This flight was the start of my trip to New York for a quick holiday, The trip was booked with British Airways as we wanted to try the 747-400 with Rolls Royce engines. Also on the return we wanted to experience the 777 for the first time.

We arrived at Manchester T3 3 hours before the flight to relax spotting planes and shopping.

Then boarding was called about 30 minutes before take off, orderly queues followed. The queues moved quickly and we were onto the aircraft after only a 5 minute wait.

Although the A319 was built in the year 2000 the cabin looked good. Blue mood lighting, the new smart leather seats and nice clean carpet gave a good first impression of the flight.

We pushed back on time and taxied to the runway and made a smooth take off.





Very quickly after take off the cabin crew jumped into action serving a breakfast and drinks to everyone. The offering was a hot bacon sandwich or a cinnamon roll.

After cruising at altitude for only 10 minutes or less the descent started followed by incredible views of the city of London.

The taxing to the gate was quick with no delay, the engines shut down and we were off the aircraft quickly.

Conclusion

The flight was perfect. The cabin crew were fantastic and very professional and managed to serve everyone a hot breakfast on this very short flight. The scenic views over London added to the wonderful experience on board and landing early was a bonus. The new cabin fits well making the airline look premium and professional on this short flight. I gave the entertainment an 8.5 as newspapers were offered at the gate but also the views over London were very entertaining. The nice first experience with British Airways made a good start to my holiday.
