DXB-MUC | A380-800 | EK51

After arriving a little bit late from Singapore a few passengers had to hurry to reach their connecting flights to Hamburg or Amsterdam. Even with the delay I had about 2.5hours until my connecting flight to Munich, so there was plenty of time to look around Dubai International Airport.
In the afternoon DXB is not that busy as around midnight.

Some pictures of DXB.

Thankfully I was able to see the last A340-500 of the Emirates fleet.
She will retire on October 3rd 2015 after operating flight EK641 from KBL to DXB.
I flew with an Emirates A340-500 to the Seychelles in August 2013, unfortunately I didn't note the registration back then.

When we arrived at the runway we had to wait a few minutes because a lot of other Emirates flights were in front of us.
After all aircrafts departed and we were the next in line, the captain made an announcement, that there were some technical issues which they try to solve with the local maintenance Engineers.
The captain did not say what exactly was wrong but I guess, that there were some electrical problems with the onboard sound system. Everytime the crew made an announcement prior to taxiing the sound was very bad and the system crashed.

Nevertheless I took a few pictures of other flights arriving at DXB.

Half an hour later the captain made another quick announcement Prepare for takeoff.

It was a little bit dusty over the Persian Gulf and the Iran.

Meal service started just after the seat belt signals went out.

Here is the menu for EK51.

Once again I chose the chicken.

It was a great piece of chicken, which was very good.

During my return flight, Hajj took place. Emirates showed the location of Mecca on the actual flight path during prayer times. Great customer service.
I saw this service only on the A380, I did not notice anything on the Triple Seven on my flight before.

When I finished my meal I finished the last few episodes of season 4 of 2 Broke Girls. After that I read something and watched the available onboard cameras when we reached Europe.

I was a little bit bored so I tried the Emirates On Air Wifi.
It was very easy to connect and worked fine so far, maybe a little bit too slow.

As on my flight MUC-DXB, ice cream was offered about 1.5 hours before landing.

The rest of the flight was unspectacular. Even with the delay in Dubai we landed right on time and were finally at home.

Here is the last picture of this series. The flight path of the day.

Thank you for reading my trip report and I hope that you enjoyed it.

Thanks for sharing this nice series of reports on an almost All A380 routing! Aside from the tight 3-4-3 on the 777 leg, Emirates has a really solid product in Economy. Good seats, good IFE, and good catering. It's nice to see some airlines still making an effort to offer good service in Economy, while most others are always looking for new ways to make the experience even more torturous, lol. Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome and thanks for your feedback.

Fr me EK offers the best connections to Asia, so far.
It is definitely a lot cheaper than LH or something else and, like you said, the service is also good - you get a lot for that amount of money.
The 3-4-3 on the 777 is really the only bad thing (for me) when flying with Emirates, but as a B777 Fan I can ignore that a little bit.

    Thanks for this FR.
Nice to get on such a new aircraft.

How was the load on that flight?

Difficult to say. One day before the flight there were still a lot of seats free in the back of the aircraft, but but Economy Class was around 80-90% full.

I don't know anything about Business or First Class. But overall I would say the flight was not that full, in total about 80%, I guess.
