Review of Lufthansa flight Munich → Manchester in Economy

Early in January, I was planning my trip in Easter holiday. I decided to visit my friend in Manchester and I purchased the ticket via Lufthansa.com

On the day of departure, I arrived the airport at 7:15am, the train was full of people as it was the first day of holiday. My flight was schedule to depart at 8:50am. I printed out the boarding pass from a machine and check in my baggage. The boarding time was scheduled at 8:25am, theoretically I had more than enough time until boarding. Once I reached the security check, the queue was like normal days. However, it took me 25 minutes to pass through. As all the flights to United Kingdom are leaving at H concourse, so I still have to go through the immigration. It was already 8:00am and a long queue was in front of me, so I decided to go to the fast lane on the left side.

I managed to get to the gate 5 minutes before schedule boarding time, and there were lots of passenger waiting. My flight today was operated by D-AIPB, a 27 years old A320 with the name Heidelberg. Boarding started at 8:32am and everyone was heading towards the automatic gates. I wouldn't say it was chaotic, as no one was pushing against each other. But definitely this was not in order.

I boarded the plane in no time and I have to admitted that Lufthansa keeps its plane very well that you cannot tell this is already a 27 years old plane. My seat was 18A which provided a very good view of the wing. I had two young ladies seating together with me.

Push-back started at 8:53am. Thai International Airways B747, HS-TGP was parked at the far end after arriving from Bangkok as TG924. As I can remember, Thai International Airways is the only airline serving Munich with B747 now. Flight time was 1:50 according to the announcement.

My plane took-off at 9:05am.

Seatbelt sign was off at 9:11am, cabin crew immediately started the service. First they distributed the landing card to passengers.

15 minutes after take-off I got my salmon sandwich.

10 more minutes later the drink cart arrived and I had a cup of coffee.

From the view outside the window, we knew that we just flew over Frankfurt airport and heading towards Belgium.

Weather was not good in Manchester, we could not see anything until minutes before touch down.

This was really disgusting as I discovered that the guy behind me put his shoes on my armrest….

Our plane landed on RWY23R at 10:52am. Total flight time was 1 hour 47 minutes. There was a short taxi until we reached the parking gate 25 of terminal 1.

During the flight I realized that I did not have my friend's address, but Manchester airport provided free WIFI so that I was able to contact my friend once I entered the terminal. When I got through the immigration, my luggage was the only one that left on the conveyor. Thanks for reading!
