Review of SriLankan Airlines flight Malé → Colombo in Economy

I took a 3 day off from work and went to Colombo. I had some miles (FlySmiles) that are expiring in June 2017 and had to use them. I booked through the UL website and had paid US$100 for taxes for a round trip (Male - Colombo - Male) on economy. Not bad.

To reach Velana International Airport (the international airport of Male, Maldives), I had to take an hour and a half speedboat from the resort. But before leaving the resort, I had to swim for a bit and enjoy the sun the day before flying … here are a couple of photos of my work place.



And then at 6AM on June 17th, 2017, I took the speedboat. Here is how it looks like:



At around 730AM, I reached the airport and went straight to the terminal hall and checked in. The terminal was not that busy by that time. The airport is small but handles many international flights.



Please note that a total of 2 security checks are what you will encounter at this airport before boarding your flight. Immigration and security check took me less than 10 minutes, so I was happy. And I proceeded straight to DFS but nothing was interesting for me.



And so I got bored and went straight to Gate 3 where UL102 will board. When I reached there, there were already some passengers waiting.



This is the beauty today, 4R-ALQ. She will take me to Colombo smoothly today.

And it is a tradition of mine to check the lavatory out before taking off so here they are, they are not of best state but maybe the previous flight was very full.

The IFE screen was of decent size but sadly no movies on this flight….

Food is so so…. I am not really choosy but I don't know UL's food did not really get into me even on those other flights I took…

And after an hour and 5 minutes of flying, landed safely in Colombo. Look at that exchange rate! :)
