Introduction

After many weeks of work since my last flight it was time to get back into the air and this time on-board my most flown on airline and most flown on aircraft, the British Airways Airbus A320! We would be flying from London Gatwick to Gibraltar on BA2662 departing at 06:20. The flight time would be 2 hours and 55 minutes therefore arriving at 10:15. This would only be my second time flying from Gatwick and my first time flying into the famous Gibraltar airport.

the terminal and lounge

We arrived at Gatwick Airport's south terminal at about 4:20. The British Airways check in area was quiet and without queues compared to the Thomas Cook area. After bag drop we made our way through security within minutes. The lounge had yet to open when we got there but after about 15 minutes we were let in.
The lounge was comfortable and sported great views of the apron and runway. The food selection was decent serving a full English or continental breakfast option with a choice of Fruit Juices, tea & Coffee or Alcoholic beverages should one desire a glass of Champagne at 5am.
The seats were comfortable and there were plenty of them. The staff were friendly and willing to help.

boarding

Boarding was done very efficiently and we were allowed to board before everyone else thanks to our British Airways executive club silver status. The cabin crew were very welcoming as usual with BA. I found my seat (7A) and settled down for this almost 3 hour fight down to Gibraltar.
Seat 7A has an OK but not the greatest wing view but it will do.

inflight

After a early push-back, a short taxi and a quick sunrise takeoff the seat-belt signs were turned off and the crew came round with the M&S on-board service where we ordered a glass of prosecco and a apple juice. The flight was cloudy with a few bumps here and there but was uneventful. After crossing the bay of Biscay we were blessed with excellent views of Spain, making our way down towards Malaga and Marbella.

arrival

photo img_20190806_100027

We begun our decent near the Spanish town of Granada and made our way out towards Malaga and Marbella. After a few turns over the sea we straightened ourselves up to land on runway 27 and after some very intense braking and a quick turn at the end of the runway we completed the very short taxi to the terminal therefore concluding our flight with British Airways from London's Gatwick airport to Gibraltar.

Conclusion

Great flight as usual with BA. With a lovely cabin and cabin crew. Gatwick airport was much better to fly out of than the last time i used it (when BA were at North terminal). Gibraltar airport was a quick transit through passport control and baggage collection. The lounge was quiet with a good selection of food and drink plus sporting excellent views over the apron and runway.
Overall rating: 7/10
