Hello fellow readers! Ready to fly to Zurich on SWISS in Economy Class?

This flight covers my return flight from Bangkok, after having a wonderful week in Thailand! For little reminders, I have flown on Lufthansa on my way to the Thai capital. Below you can find the flight on the German carrier.

As it was time to say my good-byes and leave to Suvarnhabumi Airport, I started the car I rented from Sixt and made my way to the biggest airport in Thailand.

It is a little bit confusing on how to find the Car Rental return in this airport, which left me circling around the airport for three times. At first, I turned back from the departure area, then arrival, and then departure again!

Finally after finding it and getting lost (Google Maps didn't know where it was!), I asked the SIXT driver to rush me to the terminal as I was already late for my flight. She was very kind to take me immediately.

After dropping my luggage in the Gold section, I rushed to security and immigration, in which totaled to 8 mins from dropping the bags to making it airside.
Then to my sight got this extremely well crafted symbolic dragon.

I love it how Suvarnhabumi airport is designed and decorated.

And then I have made way to the Miracle Lounge in concourse G as it was the closest to my aircraft.

Can you recognize a special someone behind those walls?

photo img_7436

A bit closer.. and no that's not Lao Airlines I am referring to.

Anyways, the airport is not very spotting friendly. I can smell some SWISS chocolate around. The smell is getting closer and closer when I walk towards gate G5.

You know who I am talking about right??

Boarding in Thailand is similar to boarding in Heathrow, they process all the passengers on the gate, and when the aircraft is ready and all the passengers are gathered in, they start boarding. Unfortunately for me, the gate agent did not recognize my Gold status with Aegean, she said I cannot board in priority, so I had to explain to her what an airline alliance means and that SWISS is part of it, as well as Thai, etc.. but she kept saying I can't, but since we are all boarding the same flight, and did not want to cause a fuss, I just let it go, but while boarding explained to her how it works and that someone else can report her.

Nevertheless, I boarding, this is my seat for today! 15K.

Slick, huh?

Just kidding… my seat is 45H

Quickly outside before my neighbours arrive.

Yeah the aircraft was fully loaded… I have already seen the crew the night before in my hotel, and chatted briefly with them. It was a good opportunity to start the conversation with them on the ground and finish it in-flight! Shared a lot from each other.

Since I did not have the view on this flight, I will only share what happened on board.

Shortly after departure, we were distributed a couple of snacks and beverages. I chose a Coke Zero(Swiss) and Tomato Juice for starters.

Then shortly after came the main meal, we had a choice of Chicken and Gnocchi. But sadly Chicken was already fully distributed, which means only Gnocchi was left for me.

The meal portion looked quite decent, but I was already disappointed that I wouldn't be eating the Chicken. The salad was shrimps on carrots, taste was Meh. Cheese and bread was distributed also amongst the chocolate brownie. An addition of fresh fruits would have been nice to accompany a long haul flight, for hydration.

And below appears the Gnocchis. I must say, I was surprised, it tasted good!

After a couple of hours of watching movies, I have noticed the cabin crew going around and forth with baskets full of goodies and returning empty handed. I was wondering where those were all gone. Have a look for yourselves! A free bar for economy class! Very well done SWISS! Between us? I was hungry all the time, so I kept sneaking in :) I have tried all types of proposed goodies, a bit of everything. It was very much enough.

Short visit to the WC, note the Woody texture inside! Such a touch of luxury SWISS. Very nice.

Look at some stashed goodies and the legroom. Legroom was very considerate for this long haul.

Then the cabin crew passed again with another trolley. This time, it was Ice-Cream! Are you sure SWISS you are serving economy class passengers? This luxurious brand was passed along, all with the same flavour. I wonder what is going on in Business and First Class!

Then three hours to go, we were distributed another snack, this time it was a Sandwich.

And then two hours before landing in Zurich, we were distributed dinner. Ah the food on this flight. Really generous airline!

The fruits were then distributed to rehydrate prior to landing, after 9hours inflight already. It was eggs for dinner and w rice salad. Chocolate was distributed covering the dessert.

As night started to darken the surroundings, the mood lights were showing, and the colours were very comforting.

After 11 long hours, we started our decent towards Zurich, already missing Thailand! But it was amazing.
SWISS chocolate was finally distributed and then we landed in Zurich! My favorite part on board SWISS! Hehehe

Conclusion

Cabin Crew friendliness, charisma and professionalism exceeded my expectation by far! 10/10 for sure! But the Lufthansa crew was my favorite so far. The economy cabin was spacious, comforting and the seat was very comfortable! The IFE had a vast variety of movies, but the distributed earphones were disastrous! Thank God I was using my own Bose QC35II ! and WiFi was fast, but very expensive and consumes data very fast. Too bad.
The food? What can I say about the food! I was stunned and so surprised to be pampered that much in Economy, the bar is an added benefit and definitely wins over my Lufthansa experience the week before.
