Hello! Welcome to this flight report from London Heathrow to Newquay.

This is the first flight I took during Covid back in October 2020.
Due to travel restrictions overseas being tough and the UK just opening back up for domestic travelling, I decided to go to the beautiful town off Newquay in Cornwall. It was the day off my mothers birthday and knew it was going to be a great day.

Lets get into the review!

We start the trip very early morning at Heathrow's Terminal 5, the check in hall was fairly empty but with a good amount off travellers inside. Already checked in prior to flying, we had our tickets printed and headed straight through security which was empty.

Very much like security the departures hall airside was deserted, this was due to small amount off flights departing.

Waited around in the terminal for a short while our aircraft arrived fresh and ready from a remote gate.

The cabin crew gave a great warm welcome and offered PPE kit whilst stepping onboard.

Inside the kit, there was  hand sanitiser gel, antibacterial wipe towel and a clear disposable bag.
Considering this was at the beginning months off Covid-19, it was very good off British Airways providing this to help protect the passengers.

Whilst waiting for fellow passengers to board I noticed the remote controlled aircraft tug.

Soon as the remote controlled tug unconnected and released the aircraft we taxied along towards the runway.

With no time to wait, we lined up and hurtled down the runway and lifted up towards the clouds.
Soaring over houses and reservoirs we flew in low clouds and breaking out into clear blue sky.

Climbing up to cruising altitude (I believe around 28,000ft?) the aircraft levelled out, seatbelts sign switched off, the crew began handing out complimentary snacks. This is due to the buy onboard service being suspended.

The snack consisted off a decent sized bag off Tyrrells lightly sea salted hand cooked crisps. A little bag of Pennstate sour cream & chive flavoured pretzels and a small bottle off Harrogate water.

Todays flight was half full which wasn't suprising, but this did help people to distance from others.

Lets take a quick look around the seating, look through the photo slides to see the features.
Starting off with the seat back pocket which was made from a netted mesh to hold the safety card and sickness bag.

The leg room is fairly poor considering this the flag carrier off Britain, Ryanair offer much more space for much lower cost!
But for feet space it was very accommodating.

Although the legroom was tight the seat itself was really comfortable with decent enough cushioning for my back. British Airways have even added onboard WiFi for a fee and free device charging ports below the seating. Great feature even on this very short flight.

Toilet review time….

Nothing special happening here.
Slightly cramped but enough space to do what you need. Soap is provided and the cubical overall was kept clean.

Soon enough it was time to take my seat and buckle up ready for landing.

Whilst descending we circled over Cornwall's beautiful countryside seeing amazing views off lakes, railway bridges and towns.

Gliding down we approached runway 30 we smoothly touched down with brakes firmly applied.
Vacating the runway we taxied past a few unique aircrafts being stored here at Newquay Airport.

Boeing 737-800 registered VP-BQR in the LOVE FLY livery, which the Malaysian airline never took up.

Thomas Cook Airlines Airbus A330-200 awaiting its new owner.

Our aircraft parked up at the gate, the ground crew started to open the doors and remove the baggage.

With the air steps ready we walked off the aircraft into the bright crisp morning in Newquay.

From leaving the aircraft we headed into the airports small terminal and headed for the bus into Newquay.

Here are some photos I took during the two night stay.

After the two amazing days in Cornwall it was time to head back to the airport for the return flight. We took a taxi from our hotel due to the very limited buses provided on the day. on the arrival we jumped on a bus to the hotel but the buses run very small amount off times.

The terminal is tiny! but big enough to hold a few flights at one time.
Walking into the terminal felt more like entering a store more than a airport. We had no trouble passing through security and finding a seat in the waiting area. The departures hall look was really bland with exposed ceiling pipes and ventilation.

The airport could easily fit ceiling tiles to hide it all?

Finally the aircraft back to London arrived.

British Airways A320NEO registered G-TTNI, aged 20 months old when this flight was taken.
Boarding took no time at all, fellow passengers arrived on time and took their seats.

Taxing onto runway 30 we took off into the night sky heading back up inland for London.

Flight time was around 25 minutes which "flew by", had no time to remove seat belt and walk around the cabin, in a blink of an eye we landed into London Heathrow.
Taxied to the gate whilst passing fellow British Airways aircrafts parked up for the night.

So that was it,
My trip down to sunny Cornwall came to an end.

Due to the late arrival time back to Heathrow, we stayed at the Hilton hotel near Hatton Cross station.
The next morning I was treated to amazing views off parked up aircrafts at the British Airways hanger! Great way to end the vacation.

All in all, great flights with British Airways

For when these flights took place at the beginning off when domestic travel in the UK started up again during covid times,
I didn't expect much to happen.
The aircrafts are brand new with very well provided PPE kits by the airline and a complimentary snack. I can certainly recommend flying with BA to anyone wishing to travel within the UK.

Have you flown to Newquay before? Or notice anything I have missed out that you noticed in this report?
