Welcome to this new Flight Report where today we will be flying from Madrid to Tenerife North, one of the busiest domestic routes for Air Europa.
This trip starts in Madrid Barajas Terminal 2, UX Hub. Check in area was almost empty on this quiet Sunday evening:
madrid barajas terminal 2
Views of the Check In Area, there were only a Business Class counter available, but enough
Security was a breeze and after a few minutes I was on the airside which is quite old style and not so comfortable for boarding
Since I came early to the airport it's time to visit the Aena Lounge, Air Europa doesn't have their own lounges
Aena lounge
As can be seen, lounge offered outstanding views over the Runway and take offs were able to be seen from your seat :)
Food and beberage Options were enough and it was an assisted Buffett, but there were sandwiches and drinks available too
boarding
Our airplane, a Boeing 737 came little bit delayed from their previous flight so big queues were made in order to board the plane, passangers in Business Class and Sky Team Elite Members boarded first
air europa boeing 738
Once we boarded a cleaning wipe was provided and Mood lighting was on UX Colour: Blue. Seats were quite comfortable and the middle seat remained empty the whole flight.
Seat Pitch was enough for a Business Class standard:
Contents of the seat pocket were only the BOB menu and the safety card, no inflight magazine
MEAL TIME :d
Pre departure drink was offered and it was a choice of Orange Juice or Water
One hour after take off dinner was served and it was really tasty, there were no options just meat, wine and alcoholic drinks were complimentary served.
The rest of the flight continued quietly and we arrived at Tenerife North slighty delayed due to some technical problems before take off.
enterteinment
Air Europa still uses Old Style video screens and some pub from their destinations and corporate videos where shown, there was a limited Wifi connection to watch series and movies on your device but no onboard magazine.

Hi Dani, thanks for sharing! Interesting to see a new review on this route, which, as you mention is a very busy Spanish domestic route. UX used to run mostly A330s to TFN I believe--now seems to be a mix of half 738 half 788 since they retired the A330s.
Since I came early to the airport it's time to visit the Aena Lounge, Air Europa doesn't have their own lounges
That's crazy to me considering this is their main/only hub. I guess their operation isn't large enough to bear the cost of operating their own lounge.
Pre departure drink was offered and it was a choice of Orange Juice or Water
Nice. PDBs are very rare these days, especially on short/medium-haul. They're just beginning to beginning to be re-introduced in the US. No PDBs on my recent IB short-haul J flights though, just a few weeks ago, so UX are doing better here
One hour after take off dinner was served and it was really tasty, there were no options just meat, wine and alcoholic drinks were complimentary served.
Wow, very impressive catering for a "domestic" flight! One thing Spanish carriers consistently excel at is good catering in short-haul Business class. Too bad there was only one option, but then again I imagine if someone requires a vegetarian meal (or other special meal type) they can be pre-ordered. Either way, looks great.
Now UX runs it with mostly 737 and the afternoon flight departure from MAD is usually a 787 for cargo reasons, flying domestic on a 787 is a unique experience nowadays :D
Regarding the lounge, as you mentioned their operation it is no large enough for that. They have 3 or 4 big departure waves during the day and the rest is just a few PMI/TFN flights..
Catering was trully tasty and a decent ammount, the dessert was the only one thing that was not my cup of tea.
Once again thank you for your comment, highly appreciated :D
