Hi,

I am happy to be back on Flight-Report with some new reviews, as some of you know I am short of holidays meaning I have no time to go abroad for a long time and then it’s ruling out long haul options albeit the most interesting. :(

So I am stuck with the week-end, I wanted to fly and do something out of the ordinary in Europe, I settled with a day trip from Paris to Madrid then Frankfurt and back to Paris.

Avgeeks will have notice on the spot the reason of this routing. After British Airways (http://flight-report.com/en/report-4697.html) I wanted to fly with a new 787 carrier, and I elected LAN Airlines, who operates as a fifth freedom flight MAD-FRA (coming from SCL). This flight was previously operated by A340, then 767 and for few weeks now with their flagship Dreamliner.

To reach Madrid from Paris you have 3 options, Iberia, Air Europa and Air France, the later was my 1st choice but their flight is leaving too early for my taste (around 9h30am) and CDG is less handy than ORY for me, my 2nd choice was Iberia, I never flew with them and even if I know they are like a low-cost on their European flight it is still interesting to add a new airline and they do depart from ORY, but again timetable didn’t fit well (around 9h00am).
Eventually I am stuck with Air Europa and their convenient 10h15am departure.

Finaly to go back from Frankfurt to Paris, the only option is LH at 8:30pm (last AF flight is leaving around 6pm which is too early, and I want something which is not sucré or salé)

Then today's routing is featuring 3 flights with 3 different airlines, 3 different aircraft and 3 different alliances!

  1. Paris ORY - Madrid (Air Europa, B737-800)
  2. [YOU ARE HERE]
  3. Madrid - Frankfurt (LAN, B787-8)
  4. [NEXT]
  5. Frankfurt - Paris CDG (Lufthansa, A320)
  6. [LATER]

When I took this very same flight back in 2011 (http://flight-report.com/en/report-329.html) UX still used Hall 1, this is no more the case as they moved to Hall 3.

After security, Eric Kaiser just made it into an airport, does it give idea to any bakery owner? XD

Even if I consider Air Europa more or less like a low cost, they do provide newspapers for everyone, which is nice.

What is this blueish interior, could it be?

YES ! My first Sky Interior, didn’t even know that UX had some!

Very airy and nice cabin, with the mood lighting and Dreamliner style bins

These screens are nice but a bit useless they are not used for safety briefing nor for airshow, they are simply showing Air Europa and SkyTeam corporate videos.

Conclusion

To sum-up a pretty standard flight on an uninspiring route, I was glad to be on-board one of their new 737 to try out the Sky Interior features, it’s definitely a step-up and make the whole cabin experience much more modern.

Comfort is average but seats do recline, TV are nice but they could be of better use if they show airshow and safety videos on it.

Crew were friendly and attentive.

I hope you enjoyed this report but keep on reading me for the try-out of LAN 787-8 ;)

Happy flying!
