Hi,

Check In at the very quiet Qantas Domestic Terminal was very quick this Sunday evening. The self-service kiosk check in and baggage drop off worked perfectly fine.

There was almost no waiting time at security and quickly I was airborne.

I walked down the terminal and had some brilliant views on different Qantas planes waiting in the evening sun for their next domestic flight.

From as small as a turboprop Dash…

The terminal however is old fashioned and only has a very limited selection of shops and restaurants. It is also under renovation currently.

Here is a view of my Qantas Link Boeing 717 waiting for the hop to Tasmania.

Boarding started very well organized with dedicated lanes with a delay of ca. 10 minutes.

The cabin crew that welcomed me was always smiling and very friendly throughout the whole flight. I was really impressed by the friendliness of this crew even in Economy.

But first passing the very nice looking 3 rows of Business Class seats in the front of this small jet.

Economy cabin looked modern and nice as well and the thick seats were actually really comfortable - definitely more than ok for such a short flight.

Some views outside.

Qantas is one of the few airlines offering an inflight magazine again after covid.

Pushback in some brilliant sunset atmosphere.

Powering out into the sark skies just before sunset for the 1 hour 10 minutes flight across the Tasmanian Sea.

About 10 minutes into the flight I was extremely impressed by the cabin crew actually serving a warm snack free of charge on such a short regional flight in Economy. The box contained some tasty vegetarian snack balls.

Free drinks incl. alcoholic ones were also offered and I ordered some white wine and water.

The flight soon came to an end and we landed at the small airport of Hobart parking in front of the terminal.

The airport uses interesting ramps instead of stairs.

Hi Alex, thank you for your report, nice cabin on this rare bird.
Nice snack, was "veg" the only option?
Fyi, I have changed the airline for "Qantas Link" which is the operating carrier.

A free fresh snack on a 1h flight! Qantas really do offer premium service in Economy compared to any Western carrier. The 717 cabin still looks nice and fresh after a few years and most of all looks confortable with good padding!

I really want to fly QF again; hopefully can work out a trip down to Australia in the next year now that everything's back open--and really hope it stays that way!

    Thanks for sharing!

Hi Alex, thanks for sharing this FR! An advantage of the 717 is that the left side of Y cabin has the same configuration as J :) What is on the top of the seat back that has a weight limit of 1kg? QF is definitely in the league of Asian carriers when it comes to short haul Y service.
