After a couple of days in Dijon and Paris, I had to go home without the Miss France crown, and as yet another 1st runner up title ! I hate the silver medals !!!
Well British Airways check-in counters are located on the lower level, behind a door… not the most welcoming area I must say.
I went to check-in and requested to buy an upgrade to Club World on my LHR-LAX flight. I was sent to the ticketing counter to buy the upgrade. When I reached the counter, I was told that it might not be possible as the printer was down but they would give it a try. Luck was on my side, the printer was back to work and I was off loaded of 675€ and sent back to check-in !
The process took ages as the agent had already checked me in World Traveller Plus and I had a bag. I had a duplicate check-in and was appearing twice in their system ! They had to cancel everything to re check me in ! PHEWWW ! But they were very friendly and laughed with me. I find that airline staff are always charming and nice when you show them that you are not a self important jerk and that you understand that they can have problems with the systems etc…
With all my boarding cards and luggage tags in hand, I headed to security and went on to discover the new central area linking CDG 2A and 2C.
I had a quick bite at the Caviar house and bought some Ladurée Macarons for my family back home.
Starbucks is there too.
My plane was waiting for it's return flight home with a fair load of passenger, not full though.
We were invited to board the Airbus on time.

I made my way to my emergency exit seat, very comfortable. I do not have a measuring tape or know if my hand is an approved measurement standard, so take my word for it, comfortable !

And shortly after take-off and before the crew drew the curtains in front of us.
Crew came around to serve drinks and a small snack. I had sparkling water and cookies.
We are half way there and the crew is picking up the trash and opening the curtains again.

Landing was smooth, with taxied to our gate and we were off in no time..
My row with the middle seat which was left vacant.
We deplaned the aircraft via stairs and buses.

The bus took us to the main terminal of T5 and I had to go up these escalators to reach security and then off to the lounge.

Good flight on this ultra short haul flight courtesy of British Airways.
The drinks and snacks was fine, didn't need a 5 course meal !

Do you mean that a failed printer could prevent them from selling an upgrade ? I am amazed that they do not have a fallback procedure. But the staff had the correct attitude, and your sprobably helped too. I have a patent on Flight Report measuring tapes, but I am open to negotiations for a license :) Thanks for this appetizer, I'm looking forward to the main course !
Well apparently they could hand write everything and process the upgrade later when the printer would be working again. THey had a stack of receipt in front of them waiting to be worked on.

You can buy the upgrade for CDG-LHR-LAX but that would be even more ! And I was fine with the CDG-LHR being in Y. Short flight.
Well I have trained Miss Tahiti for 6 years and the past 2 the girls I trained came second… so close to the crown. Seems futile but it's a huge business and a big deal for the tahitians !

Always is a bit of a stretch ! I remember a ride from CDG to LHR on a 767, the cargo door did not want to close electrically so they had to use the manual way which was though for the plane (the all plane was shaking like hell...). In the end I had to run the all connexion in LHR and only made it because we arrived in the same building my next flight was leaving !
Besides this anecdote, overall they tend to be a very regular airline which is a performance knowing the LHR capacity limitations !

Wow! 675 EUR for J. My upgrade on TK for USD 300 to Comfort Class from LAX-IST was indeed a bargain!
