Continuing my report on United to New Orleans, LA.

The excellent United app will guide me from Terminal C where my SAT flight just arrived to Terminal A where my MSY flight is starting. The estimated travel time os 19min. I have to take the shuttle. No idea if there is the option go go all way long by walk as you have in ATL.

While zooming on the screen you can really guide you completely by phone.

Let's go then. I found that Terminal C very crowded and not easy to navigate through all the people.

The Skyway is easy to identify though. Skylink in Dallas, Skyway in Houston :)

photo img_9652photo img_9653

I took the first row as I cannot afford it on a UA flight ;)

photo img_9654

The way to Terminal A was short and TA was much better with way less people.

Dallas has also a kind of rotunda like this one.

My gate and waiting area for the next hour. Connection time was definitely below 19min.

The gate was still displaying the previous flight to Gunnison - oh yes I had to check where that small town in Colorado is… Colorado and Wyoming are two states I really would like to go!

Soon we were boarding with strict respect of the priorities but you could see already you're heading to New Orleans. Everyone is unstressed, helpful, friendly…

My seat for the 1 hour flight. My neighbor is a pure NO product, genial.

photo img_9663

Standard UA express seat. The pitch is good but the the pocket on the top is a bit too small to insert anything useful.

By the way this is the United fleet - a bit of each Boeing model and 2 aircrafts I'd love to take, the CRJ550 for the fun and to see the cabin layout and the ERJ145 because I love those little rockets.

My bag has been loaded on board. Good!

Exploring the onboard magazine. You can now even pay with the app !

The onboard menu. There is a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage on all Economy flights.

photo img_9674photo img_9675

WIFI is free for messaging.

photo img_9677

Outside we follow the border with the Gulf of Mexico.

photo img_9678photo img_9679

Service with ice and a AHA flavored sparkling water which I love.

photo img_9680

Soon our descent starting following the Mississippi river.

Louisiana alone is about 9% of the natural gas reserves in the US. It has 20% of the refinery capacities of the country and ships more than 50% of the nation's liquefied natural gas exports. Be warned!

The last meters are not well defined as land or water.

There is even a rail track.

Welcome to New Orleans Louis Armstrong airport.

photo img_9696photo img_9698

This terminal is new since a few years replacing an old one that can still be seen on the other side of the runways. It is a very nice building and a base for Southwest airlines with many direct flights.

Today's route very direct over Texas and Louisiana.

Overall United has a good economy product, maybe even the best of the US3 especially due to the better seat pitch in older planes and an excellent app. The seat is better equipped though on AA and I love the free WIFI on DL.

Conclusion

United Express:
- Comfy seat but no power available
- Standard FA, not very warm though
- Good IFE available, the WIFI should follow soon I suppose
- Drink service on this flight but not on the previous with the same flight time... I suppose it comes from the ratio FA/passenger which is good on regional jets with 76 seats.

IAH:
- Not impressed by this airport. It has no style, Terminal C was a zoo. No power available in the waiting areas... The Skyway is efficient though

MSY:
- A very good and nice airport
- Access is a bit on the left side though. There is no public transportation and Uber/Lyft are expensive most of the time, especially on week-ends because of the several tourists and congresses in the city. Be warned. This best remains to get picked by someone as I was ;)
