Continuing my report to Sioux Falls, SD with the flight DFW-FSD heading north.
As I had more than 2 hours to connect I decided to have late lunch / dinner at the FLagship lounge in Terminal D. The connection is quick using the shuttle Skylink that commutes every 2-3 minutes.
My selection. The offer has been renewed since my last time which is good. Most of the proposed items are spicy though - maybe for me too spicy as the pasta was :-|
There are also good wines and a correct champagne (Pipper).
I came back to gate B7 after having eaten correctly and worked a bit. Enough time to see the local AAdmiral Club.
The atmosphere is classic AA, a bit dated in my opinion.
The offer is as always a salad bar, some brownies and cookies, and 1 dish mostly with rice.
Carton and plastic cuttery.
Boarding was called on time and I headed together with the zone 3 to the second row in the Main Cabin Extra.
Those A319 are an heritage of the US Airways former time. They have about the same space on board but no tablet holder and no USB socket.
Leaving the gate with a bunch of ERJ145 still in use. I love this rockets, pardon me… aircrafts!
Take off to the south.
Service started soon after and no alcool this time as I was driving after landing.
Landing in the middle of… not much and in the dark.
Exit into a very dated airport. But which remains comfy and will all the basics you need. There was an Allegiant flight boarding for Vegas.
Look at these waiting areas - this seems comfy not?
The hall towards airside is not bad at all.
The airport is named as per Joseph J Foss, an a US aviator and governor of SD in the 50's.
It's always strange for me to see the baggage claim in a public area in most US airports. FSD is no exception to that practice.
The Hertz counter was just next and I got my SUV to survive on the icy road of our coming snowstorm.
Once again a good flight on AA which propose - in my case - the best offer. I have with my non AA status access to lounge and Main Cabin Extra (not to the First though but I don't need it) and get a bag for free. On Delta I would have no lounge and the upgrades are not part of the ST benefits (which means your chances are way lower as Flying Blue membeers come with the DL Gold in priority). On UA I would have the lounge and the bag but no prefered seat at all.
The A319 is clearly not the newest aircraft but confort remains better than on the B737.
The Flagship Lounge is definitely nicer than a AA standard Club but also nothing to write home about. I prefer the one in Chicago that offers better food and seating options. And please AA do something for your crappy AAdmiral Clubs !!!

It's surprising that the A319 cabins are already looking so worn, they were just redone like 3-4 years ago.
