Routing

check-in and lounge

Arrived right at 6:00 am for a 9:00 departure. SkyPriority line was long and slow.

The whole security and check-in process took around half an hour. We proceeded to immigration and security quickly to make sure we get airside with plenty of time.

Immigration and security took around 20 minutes. Although the lines were long, they kept flowing. We then walked to the Hanaq Lounge, which was the only one we could access using PriorityPass.

After a little wait at the lounge entrance, we were admitted since our flight was departing in less than 3 hours. They have become very strict about accessing lounge outside the 3-hour window.

The lounge was very nicely decorated, with plenty of space to seat and a well-assorted bar. The food was just ok.

Morning departures

After a quick breakfast, we walked to the gate, where boarding was about to begin.

Our plane

Boarding was very well organized, however, it took forever due to the manual baggage security check for US-bound flights.

Seat view. Just like in the inbound flight, plenty of legroom, however, the seat itself was a bit uncomfortable. The pillow and blanket were a plus.

Pushback at 9:09 AM with a short taxi to the runway.

Away we go

Cruising at 38,000 feet, breakfast service began. Options were an omelette or blueberry pancakes. I chose the pancakes and they were really good. A small piece of bread and a fruit salad accompanied the breakfast, and since this was Sunday brunch, I also had some bubbles. Soon after breakfast I felt asleep.

Woke up in Caribbean waters, past Cuba.

Snacks were distributed. I chose a cheese and tomato sandwich, which came with a small piece of flan. Quite tasty in my opinion. A can of bubbles also joined me.

Final approach and landing

Short taxi to concourse E.

Immigration was surprisingly empty as most flights around this time were arriving at concourse F. After claiming bag, re-checked them and went through security.

Plane train to concourse F, to enjoy the Delta SkyClub before our next flight.

Conclusion

Pleasant flight to Atlanta. Lima Airport was just cumbersome from check-in to boarding. Nice flight crew, very attentive. Food was great despite being in Economy class. Entertainment was also great and we were lucky to have wifi as not all A350-900s have. Smooth arrival, immigration, and security process at ATL.

Granted I have very limited experience with LIM, I remember not really being a fan. It seemed a bit overcrowded and inefficient. The Priority Pass lounge looks a lot nicer than the Sumaq lounge AA used when I flew out of Lima years ago. I like that there are two levels--seems really big.

It's nice that DL use widebodies to LIM where other US carriers run mostly narrowbodies. The meals look pretty decent and on par with TATL catering. It seems that US carriers historically treat service to/from northern South American differently than TATL despite similar length flights so it's nice to see that's not the case with DL.

    Thanks for sharing!
