Routing

seatac airport

Hello, this is a review about an Asiana Airlines flight i took last year. I arrived at the airport around 10AM.

There was still some construction going on in the terminal.

Here's the terminal. Its quite busy with a lot of flights leaving today.

After getting past security, I got fish and chips for lunch. I still had some time to kill before my flight, so i checked out the duty free shop.

After taking the train to the S gates, I found my boarding gate. My plane today was HL8383, an airbus A350 with the first flight on the 26th of October 2020.

FLIGHT OZ271

Boarding soon started, and i went to my seat 31G. The legroom is very generous, almost feels like W class. The seat came with a blanket, pillow, and an amenity kit that contained slippers, toothpaste, and a toothbrush.

first meal

After takeoff, the flight attendants ncame by with orange juice and water as a pre-meal drink service. About half an hour later, dinner was served with a choice between steak and bibimbap. I had the Steak.

Appetizer: Shrimp salad 8/10, quite tasty and fancy for economy class.

photo img_20230704_154134

Main: Steak with potatoes and vegetables 10/10, absolutely amazing and flavorful.

photo img_20230704_153251

Side: bread and butter 6/10, standard bread and butter, nothing special but tasty nonetheless.

photo img_20230704_153853

Dessert: Lemon cake 10/10, the highlight of the meal. Super lemony and not too sweet.

photo img_20230704_154341

Overall this meal was a 10/10 from me, probably the tastiest meal I had this trip.

After the main meal service, the crew came by again with coffee and tea but i didn't have any.

After the service concluded, the lights were turned off in the cabin. I decided to watch some movies. The ife, while high quality, had a quite limited selection of movies. However, it was still better than what i had on the 777-200ER from TPE to ICN. The movie information is available on the Asiana airlines ahead of time (https://flyasiana.com/C/US/EN/contents/contents). The bathrooms were also clean. Halfway through the flight, flight attendants handed out drinks and a sandwitch.

second meal

About two hours before landing, the flight attendants came by with the second meal. Unfortunately, by the time they reached my row, only the seafood pasta option was available, which is what i had.

photo img_20230705_001107

Appetizer: Seafood salad 6/10. It had some small shrimps and imitation crab. It was decent, but i preferred the dinner salad.

photo img_20230705_001916

Main: Salmon and shrimp pasta 4/10 It was edible, but it left a weird taste in my mouth. I don't like fish on planes, and i would have liked to try the other option.

photo img_20230705_001419

Side: Bread and butter 6/10 It was the same bread and butter served at dinner.

Dessert: Fruits 5/10 It was fine, but not really fresh.

Soon we descended into Incheon, and deboarded quickly. ICN has to be one of my favorite airports in the world. Its clean and efficient, unlike Seatac.

Conclusion

OZ is a good airline to choose to fly to Asia. The best part about flying with them is probably the cheap price, as for my family it was the cheapest option to fly to Taiwan. However, that's just my experience, and prices do fluxuate. Their hard product is very good, the seats have very generous legroom. Their food is decent too. However, their biggest weakness is probably old planes and limited IFE. While the IFE system on this plane was fine, Most planes in their fleet have an older system, with some 777s and a330s not having AVOD.

The legroom looks phenomenal. May I ask how tall you are for reference?

The remote looks very modern as well, none of those old remotes that I happen to always come across on non asian carriers🥴

I gotta say, that first meal if plated could have been served in some business classes. Steak and shrimp? a little surf and turf action. Amazing! Such a shame about the second meal though as so close to perfection.

So interesting to see the differences when flying with asian carriers versus other carriers (not just US carriers). The legroom, the meals, and after reading yours and NGO’s 777 report of flying with Asian Carriers it just seems so much better in economy.
Thanks for sharing this flight report and I look forward to reading more of your reports! Welcome with your first flight report as well I just realized.
    Have a wonderful day.

The steak was probably the best meal I've had on an airplane ever. Too bad the second meal was just okay.
