Welcome to my report from Delhi to Paris with Air France on their A330-200 – with a mini bonus of my Connection in CDG to Madrid on an AF A321 I just wrote the whole report and the publish button deleted everything, so here goes round two!
Okay, so, we arrived in Delhi around 9pm. The terminal is truly beautiful.
Once the AF counters finally opened, they were staffed by a bunch of under skilled idiots. I asked if they could check my bag all the way to Madrid even though the segments were on two separate reservations. The man said no. I responded saying it was surely possible. He said no it is not. I asked why. He then called over his supervisor. They discussed the situation for a few minutes. My agent then said it was because I was checked to Madrid already. I asked if he could cancel my check in. He said no. I asked if someone in Paris could cancel my check in. He said no. Then i asked how could I cancel my check in. He said online. Well thats a problem. The airport wifi requires an SMS confirmation and my Verizon iPhone doesn't work out of the states. After a minute or two of silence, I asked if i could use his phone. At first he said thats not possible. Then i asked the supervisor. Eventually one of them turned on their personal hotspots, and within a second, i canceled my check in. It was that easy! Why couldn't they have done that 15 minutes ago?! I have no idea.
Security was relatively easy and efficient. The Delhi shops/ duty free were good and there was a good selection of restaurants. My friends and I had to try McDonalds at least once in India, so we decided to try it. It was extremely average :(
Walking to gate 10B was a hike. It was far!
Heres a bad shot of our neighbor - an Air India A320
There was a very nice FA waiting at the door to welcome everybody
Passing by the other classes - The cabin felt relatively new with the bright, white lighting.
Heres a view of the middle section of row 23. Every seat was eventually taken
Rear cabin during boarding:
Another bad picture of our Neighbor. This time an Austrian B767-300 with enormous winglets
A forward view of the cabin
The always disappointing amenity kit
And a FA spraying the classic disinfectant chemicals that are so so nasty
An air India dreamliner while taxiing
And some runway lights on the main screen
Snack was served right after takeoff
The Indian sandwich was surprisingly good. the fruit served with it was awful.
After the snack, I slept right up to the breakfast service. I had an awesome view to accompany the meal.
The eggs/potatoes were not awful, but they were not very good either. Very greasy. Still, it was better than i expected.
The sunrise was amazing
Paris was beautiful from Approach So was hall K once we landed
Our neighbor, a B777-300
Last view at row 23
Maybe nextime i will fly upfront
Last look at our A330
Transit through CDG was easy. 2F was very full with passengers going on holiday (It was July 2)
Food options in 2F were disappointing, and very expensive. I decided to wait for a croissant or something like that on the plane. That was a terrible call. All we got were crackers.
Our A321 was very old and very uncomfortable.
Thanks for reading!

Conclusion
Overall, this was a great flight. Comfortable, clean, and the food was good. Next time in India, i will fly AF through Paris. Connecting in the UAE would be awesome, but the routing never works out for me.

Thanks for sharing this rather good flight experience with us. Catering looks ok , but I think that breakfast could be a little bigger considering the first very light snack . As you were in the first Y rows the IFE is small but the legroom must have been better. How was the transit in CDG from one terminal to the other ?
The IFE was fine, nothing special. The transfer in CDG was a relatively long walk, but it was straight and simple. The immigration and security for only transiting passengers was very helpful and efficient.
I also find the catering petty decent, especially the first snack (some airlines woukd just give out the sandwich period) For breakfast I would have ordered the indian option as omelettes usually aren't really good on airplanes, but maybe you were tired of indian food ^^
AF A330 is (with the A380) the most confortable plane to fly on in Y.
Transiting through Europe on the wau from the US to India also pretty much cuts the travel in half which must be a plus.
Looking back at the flight, I definitely should have opted for the indian breakfast.
Living in Washington, DC, I'm really eager to try the new Etihad 787-9, so maybe I will manipulate some routing and see what works for my trip back to India in a few months!
