Since this was an afternoon departure, i didn't need to go to the airport that early. As usual i packed an hour prior to my scheduled arrival to the airport.
However an early call request from a friend to guest into the lounge prompted me to get to the airport, 10 hours before the flight. :P
Here are some snaps from the lounge that you may enjoy.
Fast forward 9.5 hours later, i was ready to board the aircraft.
As my neighbour hadn't arrived yet, it was time to snap some shots of the adjoining seat.
The Business cabin consists of 3 rows of seats, 2 seats on each side of the aisle per row.
For a single aisled plane, these seat functions were adequate. I can't imagine these for a longer flight (although I've survived QF Premium economy on flights to asia which utilises almost the same seats).
Soon after takeoff, carts were rolling down the aisle in preparation to serve the inflight meal.
The wine choices tonight were a red, a white and a sparkling.
I didn't have any food as i was still full from a late lunch, but one can't resist the prospect of sipping good wine! The red wine was a Blue Pyrenees Richardson Cabernet Sauvignon 2012. Pretty smashing drop to me! :D Tea was accompanied with the red wine, which was topped up all the time.
In all a very uneventful flight, complimented by a great crew and a great drop.

Conclusion
Qantas is a reliable airline that i regularly trust getting me from A to B on time. This time was no exception, with great smiles and a great drop to go with in J class.

Thanks for this report. The lounge seems very nice and I like i's modern design. Having hot food is a plus. Regarding the flight , all airlines should address the problem of their carts : they are used and do not provide a great impression for service in business class. Too bad you did not have the meal as we can't see it. The seats are fine enough for such flights that are not too long. I only flew 2 times with qantas and I must say that I was impressed by their staff and quality of service.
Thanks for sharing this first leg! You must be a really good friend to get to the airport 10 hours early to guest a friend--very nice of you! The lounge is surprisingly nice for a smaller airport. Those seats are the same that we have in the US for what we call First class (LOL) on domestic flighs--for international long-haul Premium Economy, those seats must be nice.
