Bonus pictures from Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur
It was not my first time to KL, so I was able to enjoy the few days in the city and relax a little bit.
Hotel
I chose the Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur right next to the Sentral Station of KL.
Ideal for a city trip and for my intensions.
A huge room, very comfortable bed and everything very nice and looked quite new.
Sky Bar near the swimming pool.
View from my room across the city.
I have been to the KL Petronas Towers in 2014, too - but during the day.
So I chose to visit the plattform this time at night.
Some great views at night.
Batu Caves
I was there in 2014, too.
This time some renovations were going on an therefor sand is needed in the caves.
Every visitor could help the workers and take one or two buckets of sand to the caves.
It is a really nice place, a lot of steps to climb but when you reached the top, you have a great view across the suburbs of KL.
The ony sad thing is, that the caves are at some points full of waste.
KL Sentral Station Shopping Centre
Local food - for me Malaysian cuisine is by far the best around the globe.
2017 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix
Pictures from the (to date) last F1 race @ the Sepang International Circuit.
And last but not least a funny commercial from AirAsia … I like the bear :D
Pre Flight @ KUL
My flight from KUL to AUH was at the evening, so I was very happy, that I was able to stay in my room until afternoon.
It took me around 60min to get to the Airport.
When I arrived at the airport there were not that many people at the EY checkin - so checkin was done very fast.
After that passing the immigrations and security checks were also very fast.
Once again I had to travel with the train to the other Terminal, I was able to see the apron activities.
Some apron activities near my gate.
My ride to AUH.
It was A6-AFA … I have flown with A6-AFA one time before … in November 2016 from MUC to AUH.
I guess the only that changed on the paint scheme is the year … 2016 to 2017 :)
The purple still looks great.
Flight EY411
Boarding started about 30min late but was finished within another 30min.
As in the previous flights, the seat was okay.
View from my seat across the cabin.
Checking out the inflight entertainment system as I waited for the push back.
And then we were off to AUH.
Departure was quite bumpy, but well … that is nothing new in such tropical regions.
About 30min after departure drinks and some nuts were served.
Another 60min after that and 90min after departure the dinner service started.
I chose lamb - once again - as I liked it on my previous flights.
As we passed the Bay of Bengal and headed towards India, I watched a movie and tried to sleep a little bit.
Via the inflight system I checked the onboard shopping and saw that the A6-AFA diecast was available to buy.
As my fahter has birthday on October 2nd, I thought it would be a nice gift.
The gifts I bought for my family.
About 90min before landing in AUH another snack was served.
Well, it was not too bad …. I would say it was a standard Economy Class snack.
Cabin prior to landing @ AUH.
Approaching AUH from the East.
Parked at the gate.
Post Flight @ AUH
The flight was quite fast and we arrived about 30min earlier.
That gave me a lot of time (about 3.5 hours) until my connecting flight back home to MUC.
AUH was very busy at that time, a lot of people, even some queues at the toilets.
Thanks for spending your time and reading :)
Very nice report! Looks like an overall good experience with Etihad in Economy. How cool that you were able to buy a plane model onboard of the place you were on! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely, EY is recommendable. Thinking about of flying with them to Australia this year.
EY is one of the leading airlines in the middle east, after emirates
