Routing

This is the first leg of a round trip flight from Singapore to Vancouver, Canada. As China Airlines is based in Taiwan, we were routed through Taipei with around 8 hours of transfer time both ways. The total cost of the China Airlines segments were SGD $1400. The one way flights booked separately on Air Canada was USD $127. The lounges in the review are not part of the ticket. We gained access to them through credit card priority pass program.

Sats premier Lounge Changi T3 Facility

The SATS Premier Lounge is one of the three priority pass accessible lounges in terminal 3. We were turned away from our initial choice, Dnata, because it was full. Luckily all the lounges in T3 are next to each other so we just went next door to this one. Although we were there early in the morning, the lounge was quiet and there were plenty of seating in the dining and couch area. Wifi was fast, the same could not be said for some of the other lounges. The lounge also has a few shower stalls but it did not appear to be well cleaned between use.

Sat premier Lounge Changi T3 Food

Food and alcohol selection is where this lounge really shines. The hot food section was well stocked with asian/western breakfast choices, and the menu will switch during lunch/dinner hours. Plenty of liquor and wine was around to pair with the food. There is also a fridge full of Tiger beer with chilled glass to pour it in. Finally, the make-your-own laksa station was both interesting and tasty. Good for those who didn't get a chance to try it in Singapore.

THe Flight

The aircraft used for this trip was an Airbus A330-300. China Airline cabins are quite clean in general and this one was no exception.  However, the cabin on this regional aircraft was overdue for refurbishment as the seats looked quite old and the IFE screen was dim and small (by today's standards). Nevertheless the seats were comfortable and entertainment system had decent selection of movies. Meal choices during this flight were fried fish or braised chicken, and both were tasty and filling. The crew were attentive, courteous, and efficient with their service.

Conclusion

The flight was almost perfect other than the dated cabin. The lounges available for priority pass holders at Singapore Changi made an already top notch airport experience even more enjoyable.

That legroom doesn't seem to be much too if I see that photo of yours.

Hello VFMLife, and welcome to flight-report.com! Ambitious, starting out with a five-flight journey. Very nice!

I like the SATS Lounge, having used it a time or two. The catering is solid, and I didn’t run into the shower cleanliness problem you describe here. Hopefully it was a one-off error rather than the new expected service level.

I’m not sure whether it’s the angle of your shot, or the recline of the seats, but the legroom doesn’t look great. Nonetheless, it sounds like the aging seats were comfortable, and that matters. China Airlines service, as expected, is very good.

Once again, welclome to flight-report, and thanks for sharing this. Looking forward to checking out Taipei to Vancouver.

Hi VFMLife, thanks for sharing your first report here with us!

SIN has so many great options for priority pass, which is consistent with how great of an airport it is! The cabin does seem really old and the legroom looks pretty tight. Catering looks good, though.

    Thanks!
The leg room was tight but not too bad when sitting down. Budget airlines are certainly worse.
