I chose to travel on Delta Airlines from Santa Ana John Wayne Airport to Salt Lake City as I really like SNA, a small human size and I've never been to Utah.
I leave the hotel extremely early and head to the airport to catch my flight. The taxi journey is short and I get dropped off in front of the terminal where Delta Airlines has its counters.
There is no one at this ungodly hour and I get my boarding card quickly as I did my online check-in the night before.
The Christmas spirit is in full blast mode all over the USA !
I go through the security formalities and go to my gate after picking up a coffee and a cookie at the Starbuck stand.
The boarding gate.
At the terminal's footsteps, near the gate where I'll board, the different tug bars that are used to do the push-backs of the Delta planes.
A newsstand near my gate.
Here's our Airbus A319 coming from Salt Lake City !
I am in boarding zone 2 and I get onboard just after the First Class passengers. My seat is on the first row of the coach cabin and it is the row I would advise people to snag on an A319 or A320.
An American Airlines Boeing 737-800 is parked near our Airbus.
In the seatpocket, the different publications and reading material.
Our plane is being pushed-back on time, Good Bye John Wayne Airport !
Alaska Airlines' reverse Eskimo Boeing 737.
Our aircraft is aligned now on the runway and we then jet towards the Pacific Ocean !
The Santa Ana take-off procedure is really particular as the planes take off fast, do a strong and powerful climb and then reduce the engines when they fly over the rich houses and area of Orange County and then put the power back on as soon as they are over the Ocean.
Quick glance of First Class.
Our U-turn over the ocean is over and we are now back over California.
Beautiful views of the mountains near Newport Beach.
The cabin attendants start the service, a drink and peanuts.
Gone are the No Smoking, in its place the new logo for the wifi !
The arrival in Salt Lake City is spectacular, between the snowy mountains !
Few minutes before we arrive.
We arrive at our parking stand on time. Delta planes are all over as Salt Lake City is a Delta hub.
Another Airbus 319 parks near ours.
