My journey began in Tijuana but only publish the MEX-MAD. I landed from Tijuana and I went to the American Express Centurion Lounge which was very busy, so I went to the AeroMexico Salon Premier.

The Salon Premier was empty and plenty of space. I sat on a chair and I drank a few glasses of wine and a couple of beers accompanied with sandwiches and canapés. I was reading and reviewing Facebook, in the middle of the Lounge is a circular with baristas and bartenders who will prepare any alcoholic drink you want or espresso, latte in my case. There are many waiters in the lounge.

40 minutes before departure I went to the boarding gate. The bording came quickly. The flight was fully booked in Economy and empty in Premier.

There was a pillow, blanket, water bottle, toothbrush with toothpaste and eye mask in my seat.

The take off was in time. An hour after takeoff offered drinks with peanuts. I ordered a tequila with sprite.

Half an hour after dinner is offered, the choices were chicken or pasta. I chose the chicken which was very good, had vegetables and butter sauce. I drank white wine (in real glass cups) and a tequila with sprite. After dinner they went offering coffee and some other beverage, in my case a coffee and liquor Agave is such as tequila but sweeter and stronger. I saw the films and Horrible Bosses 1&2 and Interestellar.

A mid-flight, they put trolleys with sandwiches, drinks, peanuts and crackers in the aft galley. Flight attendants were very social and friendly, I talk with them about half an hour.
I return to my seat and I slept an hour. When we approached Spain, we were offered breakfast which was scrambled eggs with ham and tomato grilled, accompanied by fruit, bread. I Drank orange juice and coffee.

The landing occurred at 11:20, an hour earlier than planned thanks to tailwinds in Altantic.

Nice report! I like the AM Salon Premier and I like the fact that there are so many waiters everywhere. The only thing that I don't like about it is that there is no Champagne/Sparkling wine. The new AM livery looks really nice and modern, but the interior of that 777 is a bit old school. The catering, however, is way better than anything served on a U.S. airline on a transatlantic flight. Thanks for sharing this first report with us and see you soon for another report!
Welcome to Flight-Report!
p.s. I added AM to the flight number for you.
Bienvenido and thank you for sharing this first FR.
The Salon Premier can get crowded depending on the time of the day. You were lucky to find it empty. Kevin's observation that there are a lot of waiters everywhere is accurate and the reason might be partly cultural. In Latin America the concept of self serve is not as popular as in the U.S. When you patronize an exclusive place like a restaurant or club, you expect to be served and not fetch things on your own.
Catering is OK and definitely better than anything you get flying on the big 3 U.S. carriers. I like the local touch of the natilla for dessert and the real glass for liquor. AM could throw in a cheese with cracker and fruit to be more in line with its Skyteam sister AF, especially since they are the main carrier in Mexico. Having sandwiches and other snacks in between meals is a luxury compared to what U.S. carriers offer. UA just started charging for snacks on long haul flights in the back. That seems so petty in my opinion.
Thanks for the very nice FR. I'd love to try Aeromexico one day. I love their livery, it's so nice :)
Bienvenido y gracias por el informe!
AM's service is so much better than the US carriers with water bottles and amenities offered in Y on boarding. Catering looks generous for a TATL with two hot meals and snacks mid-flight. That's even better than TPAC service on US carriers. They also use real glasses and metal silverware.
From what I remember, doesn't AM have 34 seat pitch in Y? I know the B787s have it, but not sure about the older cabin on the B772s. That kind of pitch is incredible compared to the US carriers who will charge you $150+ extra per flight for 35 seat pitch. Yes, the cabin and IFE do look older, but there appears to be much more comfort in AM than many of their TATL competitors in North America.
I feel like AM is greatly underrated airline in North America, thanks for sharing with us!

To any takers: What's the deal with the LO B787 at MAD with UX decals?
UX has wet leased a 787 LO
Thank you 007!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful flight with us.
The Salon Premier looks pretty nice, and the waiters are not only abundant, but also efficient.
Catering is pretty good for me, especially for the second meal, talk about consistency! Wait, isn't that silverware? It is pretty rare nowadays to spot those in economy.
The trolleys offering sandwiches and other stuff is a nice touch, especially in Y.
I would like to fly with Aeromexico soon :-)
See you soon for your next report! :-)
Yes it's a real silverware!!!, in a few days I put the return from MAD.
On board selection of tequilas. Enough said! My Mexican friends use to joke that tequila translates as to kill you. :)
Wished the chicken would have been sauced with mole negro de Oaxaca.
Makes a big difference when the crew takes time to chat.
Thanks for sharing your first FR
Decent lounge in Mexico
The seat looks comfortable
The catering looks like US company one's and is not very appetizing but at least there is free flowing booze
A good crew is alaways making the difference
See you sson for your next report
Bienvenido!
I find the little details such as the amenity kit and the glass cup to be little details that mean a lot nowadays. It seems it is a far more comfortable ride than compared to Avianca.
I will try AeroMexico next month, can't wait to see how it goes.
