Greetings Flight Report Community. Thanks for stopping by and having a look at this report. This is part 2 in the itinerary described below.

For this report I will be sharing an adventure that took place in November 2014. I've gone through my photos and determined there is enough to document the experience adequately. I have taken lounge photos from previous visits to round out the report. It's a pleasure for me to arrange the pictures into a report to relive the excitement of the trip. The reports will be broken down as follows:

LAX Delta Skyclub and Delta LAX-SEA (First)http://flight-report.com/en/report-10695.html
Delta SEA Skyclub and Delta SEA-ICN (Business)(This Report)
Asiana ICN Business Class Lounge and Asiana ICN-SIN (Business)(Coming Soon)
Singapore Airlines The Private Room and Singapore Airlines SIN-HKG (First)(Coming Soon)
United Club Hong Kong and ANA HKG-NRT (Business)(Coming Soon)
ANA Suite Lounge NRT and ANA NRT-ORD (First)(Coming Soon)

I experienced several firsts on this adventure:

First time in SQ TPR and SQ First
First time on ANA in any class

Let's continue.

I had a little under 2 hours layover in SEA. Enough time to visit the Delta Skyclub. The club is one level above the departures level along with the British Airways Galleries Lounge.

Elevator up to club level.

Good ramp views from the lounge. The BA lounge faces the runway.

Note the Seattle Seahawks 12th Man tug.

This is an extremely ordinary domestic lounge. There is a shower so that is helpful but I didn't utilize it on this day. If you can get a seat by the window the views are pleasant and the staff seem helpful and responsive. Flights to NRT, PVG, ICN, AMS, CDG all depart within a few hours so there is a sizable crowd. PEK, HND, and LHR are a little later in the evening.

Our trusty A330 waiting at the gate. I'm a fan of the short fuselage long wing combo. 777-200LR, A340-500, A330-200 and 787-8 are all striking to my eye.

Boarding commenced on time and with a 2/3 full airplane was accomplished fairly efficiently.

I was seated in the forward Business Elite cabin. Great privacy in these reverse herringbone seats.

PDB and almonds distributed. The salty, candied almonds are quite tasty. I would appreciate a larger portion. I won't even start on the package vs. ramekin.

View out the window at the large Pratt.

Taxi times are short at SEATAC and we were on our way.

Great views on climb.

Tuning in to my favorite IFE channel.

photo 20141106_122017

Meal orders were taken on the ground. I selected a braised beef shortrib. Braising this cut seems to be the best hope for a tender entree. Started with a gin & tonic too.

Appiziter: Spicy shrimp with citrus wedges and white bean puree.

photo 20141106_123716photo 20141106_123729

Next up was a blue cheese wedge salad and a minestrone soup. The salad was a great presentation. The soup was tasty with crisp vegetables. Always enjoy the pretzel bread.

photo 20141106_130450photo 20141106_130458

The main paired with a glass of Malbec. Braised beef shortrib with some kind of demi-glace, broccoli rabe with garlic, and red skin mashed potato.

photo 20141106_132429photo 20141106_132443

This was a very satisfying entree. The veg was properly crisp and the meat was tender and flavorful.

Let's take some cheese and late harvest semillon.

photo 20141106_135355

Service throughout he meal was attentive and performed at a good pace. Wine was topped regularly as well as the Pellegrino.

Post meal service it was time to settle in and enjoy the IFE. I was pleasantly surprised to find my favorite TV program! (RIP)

photo 20141106_213238

Some IFE and a good nap and we are over northeast China and the pre-arrival meal is presented. Choices are an egg dish, cold cereal, or a savory option. I selected the latter.

photo 20141106_220939

It is odd to serve jam and butter with cashew chicken but I understand the base tray is setup in advance of the entree placement.

Some nice views on the approach to ICN. The iconic terminal head is visible before touchdown.

Conclusion

Another very pleasant TPAC with Delta. Warm and attentive service combined with a solid seat/bed and quality food and beverage. The A330-200 is a great ride and I prefer the two smaller Business Elite cabins vs. the single large cabin of the A330-300. It was a pleasure flying with Delta.

Up next is ICN-SIN in Business on the Asiana A330-300.

    Hello Socalnow,
That was a very detailed TR.
It is good to see a competitive product and fully flat bed offered by Delta on this leg, unlike some airlines which still angled bed for a journey this long.
The food presentation is actually nice and the meals look like they were decent size.
Although I have to say that salad presentation was just okay, its just lettuce sliced in half and sprinkled with cheese.
But I find with most airlines, their salad presentations are also very ordinary because I suppose most passengers ignore the salad.
But the spicy prawns looked nice, hopefully it wasnt dry or hard like rubber.
And the entree with the mash, the brocollini looked crunchy.
The savory dish for breakfast looked like a good choice! chicken and cashew is always a safe but tasty bet, hopefully it tasted nice.
well to me anyway, i find this whole idea of what constitute a meal fit for breakfast or lunch or dinner is silly, for me they are all food.
Were the seats comfortable for sleeping? I found Cathay Pacific's version of this seat to be the most comfortable, felt like a bed. the cushion firmness were just right.
Anyway enjoy the Asiana flight, I am not a big fan of their fleet. they need to upgrade and catch up with the rest of the world.

Greetings Airtraceladdict and thanks for reading and commenting.

Were the seats comfortable for sleeping?
      - Perhaps a little on the firm side. A pad to place on the seat would be a nice addition to the bedding. Some passengers will put an extra duvet down but I find that to be too warm most of the time.

...what was the service or crew like?
The service was attentive with frequest top ups of drinks and dishes cleared promptly. Between services they pass through the cabin frequently with trays of water at which time you may request anything additional. There is a snack station setup int he galley with fruit, candy, and savory snacks. Instant noodle soup is also presented.

...enjoy the Asiana flight, I am not a big fan of their fleet. they need to upgrade and catch up with the rest of the world.
      - I concur with your assessment. Their soft product is outstanding but the angle flat seats on the A330 that they fly to SEA part of the year are not competitive.

Thanks for sharing this very nice report with us. As you mentioned Delta delivers a warm service and I always find their catering to my taste. Nothing too fancy but always fresh and tasty.
I also like the forward cabin of the A330 and find t very comfortable with enough privacy.
Looking forward to further reports !

Thank you for this flight report. I like your writing style, concise yet entertaining.

I had the chance to try the very same Delta Skylounge at Seattle-Tacoma after my flight from PVG. I find this lounge to be okay, it meets the job. Nothing too fancy but not too spartan as well. I also had the opportunity to try the shower room. The shower room is very big, spacious, and very clean. However, it is quite dark, hot water didn't really work (i was there in February), and the water pressure was rather weak. And the lounge attendant will specifically ask you what kind of amenities that you need and will only give what you said you needed. If I remember correctly, there was no sink inside the shower room so if you want to brush your teeth, you have to go out to the main toilet area.

It seems that Delta was being at its best during your flight :) again, not too fancy but not shabby as well. I think I prefer this style over blink-blink wannabe ala ME3. Great food + good IFE + great seat = great flight ^__^

Anyway, I look forward for your next installment flying with OZ!

Greetings BombieFlyer and thank you for reading and commenting. Sorry about your shower experience a the SEA Skyclub, hot water is a basic necessity they should be able to provide consistently! You are correct about the sink, it is absent from the shower room, which is unfortunate. Happy travels!

Thanks for another good report. DL is way ahead of the other US legacies in terms of consistency of International J product. On DL, no matter what aircraft you get (except 757) you know you're getting full-flat full-aisle-access. The catering is also very good for a U.S. carrier. As a former DL flyer now flying AA, DL does better than AA on Long-haul J catering, but less well on Domestic F. Thanks for sharing!

Nice...the A321T, that should be a good experience. Haven't had the chance to fly the A321T yet. Hope you enjoy!

The A321T is indeed a great configuration. I had a great Flight Attendant who took very good care of the 8 of us in F. Well done AA.

Hello KevinDC and thank you for reading and commenting. I haven't experienced a US Domestic International J service in 15 years so I don't have a point of reference but trip reports seem to support your thesis. I have my first trip in AA F this Sunday from JFK - LAX so I'll get to see how they do it on your side!

Hi Socalnow, nice report, please allow me to give you some tips that some of us look for, that I did not find in your report. SEAT COMFORT, being the first and foremost, one will be seating or sleeping or standing in this seat for over 10 hours. the rest of the fluff, such as food, drinks, amenities, are for the honeymooners who fly not so frequently, Second, HOW LONG IS THE SEAT OR BED FULLY EXTENDED, I am 6'3 and trust me, gets darn tight. Third. FOOT ROOM if the seat is in bed position, how much room is there? I wear 14 size shoes, often the tip of my feet touch the "foot" ceiling, and if I lay down sideways, I only have one inch to move my feet. try sleeping like that,my only option is lay down like a mummy because my shoulder touch the sides of the seat or suite, hence the 3rd point, SEAT WIDTH, although I am average in weight ( (190 Lbs), I have big shoulders.
fourth, CUSHIONING while in seating position as well as laying position, how is it?, remember, 10 hours or more..... and lastly how spacious is the BATHROOM FOR BUSINESS CLASS, after the 8th or 9th hour of the friendly skies, I am somewhat s comatose, and I have to stumble to the bathroom, very important when I turn around after I lock the door. I have banged my shoulder and my head quite a few times.
I find your reports very nice, but if you could focus on the hard product, wold be really appreciated, pictures are nice like when the seat is shown in standard position, fully flat, and how much room is left for the feet.
