Hello everyone, still very late on my schedule… So here is my flight to Bordeaux from Istanbul on TK new Boeing 737-800 Business class (got an upgrade for no reasons…)

REVIEW
Upgrade explanation : During the boarding process, the Airport agent scanned my BP and light goes red. So the guy checked on his computer and said and wrote on my BP 2F! I was quite confused, so I walked down the jet bridge thinking I'll have an old aircraft without a Business Class cabin, then I saw the sky interior at the Boeing 737-800 door. Problem…. I asked a cabin crew member if I should sit in the 2F as I was supposed to fly in Eco, he said me kindly, Yes, if the airport agent told you that you can sit there!. My brain exploded! First time travelling in business class! I was living a dream! So may I review with you guys this fabulous experience onboard TK 738 Business Class!
Is there someone who can explain me this upgrade, that would be nice! thanks!
Woke up super early
Online check-in counter almost empty, drop my suitcase in 5 min heading to the airside
Had a small breakfast in the airport then time for me to go the gate.
Didn't know I was flying in J class until now!

Awesome legroom, seatpocket, remote control in the armrest, Large IFE screen, a very comfortable footrest, USB jack and Ipod port, 220V power socket, personal reading light, adjustable headrest, a nice pillow and noise canceling headset!

Thank you very much for sharing this exciting report. Congratulations on your surprising upgrade. Your enthusiasm is contagious and it's refreshing to read that this can happen to anyone, not just frequent flyers with elite status. It's too bad that this happened at the gate and not earlier, otherwise you could have taken advantage of TK's superb CIP lounge.

TK does a really good job on this flight with a full meal service that looks very appetising and a real Business Class seat with an IFE. Difficult for competition to beat this !

Great Report! Congrats on the upgrade!! Your enthusiasm really shines through. You really got lucky with the upgrade especially on this new aircraft with Boeing Sky Interior and the new narrowbody Business Class in a true 2-2 Business seating. Most of TK's fleet just have a blocked middle seat with regular Y seats in J, just like AF, LH, BA, etc. So it's great you got this aircraft.

- Normally if Economy is overbooked and there is room in Business class the airline needs to bump some people up from Y to J--However, most airlines upgrade the Elite Frequent flyers. In this case you got super lucky if you don't have Elite status with TK. Maybe there were no actually no Elite Frequent flyers to upgrade on your flight to upgrade. Either way, it's awesome that you got to fly in J for the first time and even more awesome that it was free!

TK is surely one of the best airline in Europe. Real Business Class seat, incredible meal...
Same experience could be made in Economy Class, they know how to make you being relaxed.
Would just be better for them to get smiling cabin crew ;)

New route surely mostly frequented by no-TK status leisure pax.
Plus ex BOD surely not a lot of *G around since *A is pretty much absent of BOD (except TP).
One more reason for me to fly DXB-IST-BOD then and crossing the fingers.
Catering is ok, any idea about which champagne/wines are served ?
Comfort is nice with real recliner and not the sorry Y type seating that is the rule now for MH flights.
Only down is having been upgraded at gate rather than checked-in, you missed the glamorous CIP lounge.

But getting upgraded is always a nice surprise, always makes the trip 100x better!
I am very pleased to see TK using real business class recliner chairs for European flights.
Because Euro Business is so far behind the world, its fake business class. Even the USA which for a long time had old seats, now they have better domestic business seats then Europe.
The food looks good too, it is a short flight so the catering is generous.
But it would be good if TK listed what champagne they served :)
