After a few days in the Riviera Maya (Cancun, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen) was time to go to Tijuana, my flight was on September 16 at 11:30 AM. That day in Mexico we celebrate the independence day, and there is a military parade and air in Mexico City, which is why the airport closes airspace to flights a couple of hours, causing delays.
I arrived three hours before the airport. The documentation was fast and there was no passenger queuing. Then I went to the Premier Lounge that it is on the second floor. Note that to reach the SP have to cross a duty free on the second floor is well stocked.
I was received very warmly by a lady in the reception room, I asked if there would be delays by the military parade and said no.
It is the third time in three years that the Lounge has been refurbished / enlarged. There are now more executive, elegant gray and black leather furniture.
There were sweet pastries and fruit salads.
Something that caught my attention is that already offer mezcal, although I am not a fan of this liquor (I prefer tequila as can be read in another of my trip reports), there is a current high demand and fashion by it, that's that AeroMexico was right to offer it in their Lounges
40 minutes before my flight I headed to the boarding and OH SURPRISE !!! Tentatively flight delayed two hours by the military parade, so I went back to the Salon Premier for beers and a rum with coke.
In the end, they were only 45 minutes flight delay. The boarding was made from the tarmac, which I love this form, because I feel that you are more in contact with the aircraft and can make more and better pictures from another angle.
I was greeted by two young FA and went to my seat.
In the seat was a headphones, the aircraft was one of the new Sky Interiors. The takeoff was made smooth and we could see all the color of the Caribbean Sea.
The plane went to the south, towards Playa del Carmen and then headed west toward the Gulf of Mexico. The service on board was to classic drinks and peanuts.
I ordered a strongbow. I do not use much of the entertainment system, I read a couple of magazines and I started to see through the window the clouds.
The descent occurred very turbulent, Mexico City was covered by a layer of clouds and some rain.
The good thing is that we have an extended connection for the flight to Tijuana
After landing, I headed to Salon Premier International area
There were sandwiches, salads, hot dogs and corn chowder among other things to eat do not remember
After an hour there was time to go to the boarding
…another Boeing 737-800 with Sky Interior
To drink, I ordered a Heineken with tomato juice. Notably the FA went 2 times offering drinks.

With the amount of tourism traffic that CUN must see, it’s probably not surprising that AM has invested a lot in making sure this lounge looks nice. Although the alcohol selection is quite extensive, the food offerings in the lounge could be much better (currently on par with US domestic lounges).
You were lucky to get a B738 with scimitar winglets and the new cabin. The new cabins on AM look really good. If I lived in the US, I’d fly AM in Y via MEX on trans-cons versus a US carrier, lol.
So they have you deplane in MEX? They don’t offer meals on the MEX-TIJ leg?
AM continues to look strong, I’m happy that they are doing well and haven’t slumped into the mold of the US carriers.

Que lastima que no se pueda escribir en espagnol en FR... Tu sitio web es muy interesante.
El servicio me parece corecto para tres horas de viaje. Sin embargo, el catering sigue siendo muy flojo y ligero!
Hasta luego :)
Thanks for your comments, Flight Report must open a Spanish section for the Trip Reports, there is a lot of hispanic´s avgeeks!!!
They got a nice AM B788 poster in that lounge :).
It's really nice you flew on a bird with the split-scimitar winglets! The cabin looks very fresh, BSI, modern IFE system and pretty decent seats.
Happy new year! See you!
