Booking a flight on ba.com is simplified and exceptionally quick. As long as you have a balance ready, booking is a doddle !
The inbound A320 from Heathrow was fully packed and docked at it's gate at Manchester at 1810pm. Boarding to Heathrow commenced amazingly at 1820pm ! I was impressed at how clean and tidy the cabin was on such a tight turnaround.
At 1830pm I boarded the BA1405 ( A320 G-EUUK) and there was a scary looking Senior Airhostess stood in the doorway looking like A bouncer. Scary. Anyway, I boarded and after doors closed, there was a video safety demonstration and a nice welcome by the Purser and Pilot.
One Steward called Gordon was especially nice. The cabin had all leather seating and although it had an all Economy appearance,BA Gold Card holders,J fare passengers and Oneworld Elite level passengers sat at the front. The carpet was brand new and blue despite the aircraft being 6 years old at the time of travel.
At 1900pm BA1405 eventually hurtled down a windy Manchester runway and shot into the night sky. Just 3 minutes after take off( yes I was counting how sad !) the lights go back on and trolleys are pulled out and all you can here is “Sandwich ? Drink ??” !! The cheese and carrot jam sandwich was very tasty and filling.
The dual sandwich combination was cheese salad and the other wensleydale cheese and carrot jam. I just had enough time to down the sandwich and have a nice cuppa and we started our descent !! Touchdown at Heathrow was stomach churning as the plane violently swerved right then left and we all breathed a sigh of relief once we slowed down !!
The Captain and the friendly one of the 2 female Cabin service Directors bade farewell to passengers.
The lady sat next to me was a fashion buyer and was off to Hong Kong to meet some accessory dealers. She was scared at the next flight, but I assured her that as it was a Jumbo she’ll be fine( only smaller planes seem to take a battering by bad weather !).Anyway, there was a massive tour group on our flight and when I went to baggage reclaim only about 10 people were waiting for bags. 8 minutes after arriving at LHR, baggage reclaim started( A sign starts flashing and beeping) advising bags on the way !
There’s an M+S in arrivals which is popular with BA cabin crew and seems to be the local favourite ! There’s also a Bus and Train Info desk, complimentary phones for car hire , a Hotel reservations desk ( which also sells Hotel Hoppa tickets) plus and Airport infodesk.
By the way trolleys for luggage are operated very strangely ! To operate them you must keep your hand pressed down on the handle otherwise the trolley may as well be wheel-less as it remains stationery ! Tip from me haha !
Great flight ; despite turbulent weather the crew gave amazing service.

Our sistership G-EUUJ. If only flightradar24 had existed in 2008 then I would have known where she is coming from/going to !
