BACKGROUND
Welcome everyone to this FR series covering a selection of my flights this summer. This is one of 4 KL flights I took, but I will only report this one, and my long haul flights on DL and VS.
Here's my complete routing:
PART I:
SFO-MAN in J on VS ( CLICK HERE)
PART II:
ATH-AMS in Y on KL (HERE)
PART III:
MAN-JFK in J on VS (COMING SOON)
JFK-SFO in Delta ONE (COMING SOON)
This flight was purchased as an award for ~12,000 flying blue miles (oneway) plus $26 per person. The revenue ticket would have cost $460 because this flight was booked last minute.
LETS GET FLYING!!!
We arrived at the airport about 3 hrs in advance. There was no line at the AF/KL checkin desk. Because this was an award ticket, we got a free checked luggage allowance which is a really nice touch. Thanks KLM!!

Security was efficient and soon we were in the schengen-flights boarding area!

The architecture of the terminal was quite brutalist but the low ceilings made it claustraphobic

Plane spotting was okay. Here are some shots of the late afternoon traffic:
Airfrance A320:

My first sighting of a bombardier CS-100! The first one delivered too!!!!! An LX special livery jet too!

Taxiing

And takeoff (with incredible views!):

Flying over the Agean:

Dinner was served shortly after takoff with the only choice being vegetarian pasta (same as AMS-ATH)

The meal was okay with quality and quantity both satisfactory.
The FA came around with beverages during the meal, an apple juice for me!

After the meal, we were given a muffin type thingamabob. It wasn't very good, but its the thought that counts!

Tea after dinner:

Flying over Austria and Germany:

Descending over the dykes:

Approach to Schipol:

At last …. landing!

KLM 777:

The first A320NEO, delivered to LH!!! My second great spotting find today!!!!!

Does anybody know this airline?? Thanks for insight!

Thanks for reading everybody. Please dont forget to comment and "like"!!
CONCLUSION
KLM intra-European flights are a great use of FlyingBlue miles, and their Y product remains very good for both short and med haul flights.
Cabin: A little outdated but perfectly spacious. No further comment.
FAs: Very Friendly and efficient. Great job! They were very happy to cater to special requests and kept everyone updated on the delay! 10/10 hands down!
Entertainment: The magazine was very good, no IFE though.
Catering: Good enough. A meal on a 3 hour flight is always really nice! However, the beverage selection was fairly lacking.
ATH: Efficient and good souvlaki. The architecture isn't that nice and there was a departure control delay. Otherwise: very average.
AMS: Always a pleasure! Efficient and clean. Services are great as always. No complaints!
Thanks for reading and please comment! See 'ya next time!

Thanks for this FR.
Catering is original and pretty decent for a leisure european flight where most airlines offer BoB.
KL crews are definitely the strong point of the airline.
All agreed! The crew were excellent, maybe the best of any airline. Thanks for dropping by!
The airline you asked for in the last two pics is ORBEST airlines from Portugal..
Thanks!
Hello , the SWISS CS is not a 100 but the brand new CS-300 HB-JCA
Oh!! Even better! I didn't know that CS-300 already was in service! Thanks for the info!
