Hello again
After spending a very pleasant week with my family in Amsterdam it's time to come back to Rome
That's the itinerary of our flights
12nd August Rome-Fiumicino FCO - Venice VCE-Marco Polo (here)
12nd August Venice-Marco Polo VCE - Amsterdam-Schiphol AMS (here)
19th August Amsterdam-Schiphol AMS - Rome-Fiumicino FCO (you are here)
As soon as our residence was quite close to Schiphol (we saw many planes landing from our room) we decided to take a taxi instead of going to the station and take the train. It would have take too much
We arrived about 2 hours and half before in order to spend a bit of time on the famous airport Panorama Terrace
Some planes from the motorway
AZ A320 to Rome-FCO

KL 787 DreamLiner and 777 behind

Entering the airport

Schiphol Plaza from outside with the IAmsterdam sign

The taxi left us in front of us Departure Hall 1 which hosts SkyTeam flights to Schenghen countries plus others
The departure hall is quite similar to many others but it is quite well keeped
Before accessing to the passengers area we checked-in through self check kiosks
The queuing area for the check-in desks is accessible only with BPs or e-Ticket

As soon as we had a couple of hours before the departure we headed to the Panorama Terrace, a must for avgeeks at Schiphol

Kenya Airways 787 and KLM 777s at Pier E

KLM 747, the "Queen of Skies", named after the City of Shanghai
New KLM livery is quite amazing

Alitalia A320 departing to Milan-Linate

Departure board

After about a half hour there we went downstairs to Plane@Plaza to buy a couple of plane models
I bougth Etihad A380 and KLM A330

As soon as boarding time was close we went to the security checkpoint
The whole waiting time and check lasted about 25 minutes
The security checkpoint area was however very pleasant

Going towards gate C7
The departure lounge is very good and there are a lot of shops

Inside Pier C

Air France A320

And our AZ A320
Even this time no new livery for me

BA and LH A320s

Boarding started on time
The plane was not full

Transavia 737s at Pier C

AF was behind us for takeoff from RWY24, named Kaagbaan

Bye bye Amsterdam! Hope to visit you again

After a light turbolence we flied over clouds
A snack made of a spinach sandwich and beverages was served
I'm always impressed by the friendliness of AZ cabin crew

After the snack I relaxed a little bit listening to music
We started to fly over Central Italy at sunset

Bracciano's Lake

Final moments of the flight

We landed on time on RWY16L
Unfortunately outside was dark and I wasn't able to take some good pics
Luxair 737 departing

AZ and Niki A320s

We parked at Gate B close to an AZ A320 in new livery

Inside Pier B, AZ base for Domestic and EU flights

Down to Arrivals Area

Terminal 1 currently hosts AZ and SkyTeam short and medium haul flights but in the future it will be expanded to be Alitalia's base for all flights

After collecting our baggages we took the shuttle bus to the long term parking and came back home

Thanks for sharing this FR!
Excellent spotting shots from the deck. The new livery does look good, almost the inverse of the new BR livery the way it curves around the nose.
Is this new catering with the new AZ? I always thought AZ only served the salt/sweet snacks on flights, a spinach sandwich sounds like an improvement to their catering. Friendly crews are certainly a recent improvement to AZ, lol.
Thank you for your appreciation ;) Actually it was the first time I flew AZ on a EU flight since 2013 and at that time I remember the snack was just a choice between biscuits or chips. Perhaps they have improved the service on European flights because on the first leg of my journey (FCO-VCE) there were just biscuits or chips as before
Thank You very much for your flight report :)
I especially like those many photos of AMS, it is really one of the top airports in Europe.
Some photos of the cabin or catering would have been nice.
