Well this is my last flight with BA for 2016. Also my last flight with them before they introduced their M&S Buy on Board service.
Flights were going cheap for domestic flights around the UK at this time and having done EDI & MAN, I thought I would do somewhere different.
I ended up choosing ABERDEEN
I booked my day trip for only £95 including seat reservation, so this was a very good deal. Gave me an excuse to top up my ONEWORLD Mileage program.
The day of the flight came and by this time, my mate who used to live in Aberdeen during his childhood, decided to come along as the flights hadn't altered in price.
We got to London Heathrow and went to T5 and having checked in online- beelined to Security and we got through in a good 15 minutes.
Despite being November, LHR was already glowing with the upcoming Christmas spirit which was nice to see!
After grabbing a cuppa tea, we found out which gate our flight was going from and made haste to the gate. We found our flight to ABZ was to be operated by Airbus A320 G-EUYM. A new aircraft for our flight memories…
I made my way to the Row 13 and Seat A which had cost me £6 to reserve. Half the time I fly- I find I could have got away with leaving it until the last minute, but paying to reserve gives me a peace of mind as I love a window seat to photograph & take film for my YouTube channel. The BA cabin was standard and as always- Love the mood lighting!!!
I sat down and after the flight was boarded, the stewardess (the only lady crew member on this amazing crew of 6) asked for a volunteer to move into one of the Emergency Exit Rows…
Guess who didn't miss an opportunity! These seats are normally £20 on average flights to reserve in advance, I got bagged it for only £6. Not going to moan there!!!
So the aircraft taxied to the runway and departed pretty on time. With the plane just over half full and everyone showing up on time, it was pretty drama free. The window managed to clear a bit as the take off run caused the De-Icing fluid to rush off the A320.
We got to cruising pretty quickly and as is common with the BA A320s, the screens showing the map and our route activated for our flight.
The hot breakfast was served and I tucked into what would be my final "BA Breakfast" that I enjoyed on at least 3 previous BA services to Scotland.
TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!
We began flying along the UK shore line, over the North Sea, between south Newcastle and most of East Scotland before we began to start our decent into Aberdeen.
Not before long we landed into ABZ. We parked up on a remote stand. Before getting off the plane, I went into the flight deck and thanked the pilots for a nice flight on this BA Shuttle as well as getting a flight deck shot and a pic of my plane as I went into the Airport terminal.
After going through the arrivals, we grabbed a bus for a journey into the city (not before I got some shots of parked aircraft from a Car Park). All in all well worth a day out!
