The Air Asia flight from Langkawi to Penang is one of the shortest flights in Asia. It is indeed not common for low-cost airlines to offer such short routes.
Langkawi is a small airport. While the local transportation companies prefer that you arrive two hours prior to departure there is absolutely no need for this. I only had hand luggage and already had my boarding pass, so I was through security in about two minutes. Should I have had go to check-in, I would have needed not more than five minutes more.

Airside is very simple with only one very small shop and a large seating area. The good point is that you have wi-fi and a good view on the apron.

Boarding was slightly chaotic with priority boarding more or less respected. Passengers walked to the aircraft parked a few meters from the building.

I booked seat 1A for an extra fee of MYR 42 (about 9 Euros). Legroom was of course sufficient.

Doors were closed at 10.12, push-back at 10.14 and take-off at 10.20 with some nice views .

Air Asia offers drinks and meals for sale. Given the short flight time cabin crew announced that "Food and beverages service on request. If you would like to purchase please call us". Here is some of the menu (15 MYR is about 3 Euros). You can also pre-order these meals for 10 MYR only.

I didn't order anything on this flight as I was between breakfast and lunch, but I did order Nasi Lamak the next day on my flight non-reported from Penang to KL, and it was not good.

We landed at 10.43, so the actual flight time was only 23 minutes. Penang is a much bigger airport, although there was not much traffic that time.
