It's me again. Hope you guys are well. :)
I had in my other report, the only flight report experience I had on J, well that was my second "free" upgrade from Economy to Business Class from Cathay Pacific. This, was the first one. Summertime in The Philippines is from April to May. These are also the hottest months of the year and since there are no classes, this is the time that most Filipinos will travel. From time to time, I think CX will overbook Economy and Premium Economy and just pumped up these passengers to Business Class. This happened to me.
On the day of the flight, I went to church and visited the Magellan's Cross (the cross Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan planted in Cebu city in the 1500s signaling the conversion of The Philippines to Christianity). Photo of the church below is that of Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral nearby the Magellan's Cross.
And had a quick meal thereafter… My all time favorite Filipino style Steamed Rice and Siew Mai. Also a favorite is this Bavarian filled doughnut from Dunkin Donuts.
Took the taxi to the Airport. It was about 30 minutes and had paid the taxi about PHP150 (about US$3).
The lady at the check - in counter had kindly handed over to me my Premium Economy BP, which I thought was a really kind gesture from CX….
After clearing immigration, I proceeded to look my for gate but for a short while had wandered around the airport.
Some shops at the Mactan Cebu International Airport.
These steel seats will soon have to go once the new terminal opens.
After a short while, I was looking for a place to chill…
Settled for The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Ordered my usual Regular Mocha Iced Blended with Cheesecake. It was delicious as always.
View from seat while having my coffee and dessert.
And at the Gate, my name was called. I approached the counter and was handed over another BP, this time for a Business Class. This was my very first Business Class BP. I was really happy.
Soon, it was time to board and boarding was on time. CX is always on time, at least in my experiences.
I was met by a very lovely female FA who showed me my seat and offered me a PDB. And here are the photos of the IFE that I took along with the seat controls.
Some more views of the IFE as well as the beautiful window of this Airbus 330-300.
Take off was smooth as it was summertime, there were no bumps and no clouds at all. Here I was admiring the beautiful island of Mactan.
This was the Business Class menu of that flight.
Took the pasta, which was just ok. But the bread was the star.
Navigating the movies while having my Haagen Dazs and Black Coffee.
After 2 hours and 10 minutes, we landed into Hong Kong International Airport.
