Welcome back
Intro
My routing back to Aberdeen continues
My flight to AMS can be found here.
Did some spotting on may way.
I left my plane, luckily no bus and went to the transfer Schengen/non-Schengen passport control. I have an EU passport so I make my way to the machines, not all of them were actually working and there were a lot of American citizen. An airport employee filtered all the pax that wanted to go through the e gates
There was an interesting ad. AMS tries out a new passport control feature with biometric scans. It's funny how AMS is so futuristic while CDG can't even provide regular e-gates.
After passport control I went to the famous KLM Crown lounge which I am very familiar with. My way there was a bit unsual, it's a short-cut compared to the regular route imposed by the signs. You just have to follow the first Aid signs and you are there.
The Lounge
The lounge was a bit crowded but there were enough seats. KLM has fully replaced the cutlery, plates and cups. The food selection is way better now with a salad bar. A new thing to me was a delicious mango-banana smoothie.
The flight
I was in a rush as I waiting until the smoking room was cleaned to smoke my last cigarette on continental soil
I reached my gate 13 minutes after boarding started, unusual for me, boarding was still happening and I went on board where a lovely CC greeted me and I took my 5A, Economy Comfort seat, with spacial legroom and 2 neighbours. My phone had almost run out of battery so I made usage of the power plugs underneath the seat which work for the whole flight (take-off and landing included)
Taxiing and takeoff from Polderbaan
I fell asleep pretty quickly but Mr. 5B took a snack box for me, despite me hating KLM's wraps, I took one and was very grateful.
I did not eat it and continued my nap just before descending started.
And we landed safely, taxied to our parking position.
Immigration was a breeze, ABZ mostly has only one international flight arriving at a time, unless Ryanair lands its 3 737s from Spain and Portugal at the same time, and given that we were the only flights I only had the full C in front of me, and only those with EU passports and I was left with 5 pax in front of me. ABZ opened the back door as well so pax could leave the aircraft via both ends.
I collected my suitcases quickly and was on my way outside and made my way to Aberdeen city centre via the very convenient and cheap 727 Bus.
Thank you very much for reading me.
