Back to Paris! No wide-bodies this time. Simply flying on an Airbus A319.
But its a new aircraft type on my growing list of Air France flights!
Long story short- I got £25 off a flight with Air France as a birthday voucher- so I booked a spotting day trip to Paris CDG as I still have a valid spotters permit.
So I get to T4 and after going airside via a short buzz through security, I swear it gets quicker each time! I was at the Heathrow Viewing Gallery air side at T4!
Spotting for an hour or so, I went down to see where my gate was, and I found it. Right next to the Viewing Deck…
I boarded the A319 and took my seat at the rear half of the plane, sitting just behind the wing.
We pushed back on time and made it to the end of the runway in good time, We didn't have long a wait as we were still ahead of the main rush period.
We departed LHR, it was a clear morning- so the views across England was brilliant!
Within 20 minutes we had turned south, gone to cruising altitude and the cabin crew began serving breakfast for the flight.
The flight breakfast consisted of a Pain Au Chocolate pastry and a hot drink- I tried the Cappuccino. I asked for the meal in French, I don't speak it fluently- but I do like to brush up on a little bit of second language if I travel abroad, its only politeness, although the Dutch generally don't mind using English……
France & Paris was covered by clouds compared to clear sunny England & London. But we had some nice cloud surfing during our initial decent on this short hop!
Landing at Paris CDG, we parked up and I vacated the plane, getting through security- I went straight to Terminal 1 from Terminal 3 to begin a very lucrative spotting trip!

My flight home that evening was cut short when my GoPro overheated and shut off in the last half of the flight, so here is a compilation of this incomplete flight……..

Conclusion
Air France- Nice solid product on such a short hop. Better than BA and EZY who also operate the route from LTN & LHR, respectively, seats were comfortable for a short hop, though not sure if they'd stand in the same regard on a longer trip!
London Heathrow- Terminal 4 is great for getting through security as its the quietest of the 4 active terminals. The viewing deck is my favourite amenity!
Paris CDG- For once I didn't wait at Passport Control. I got through in 10 minutes from Plane to past the check point. Spotting views were quite nice from T1, just don't bother the taxis or airport staff and its great- just make sure you have your permit to avoid unnecessary trouble!

Hi Jett! I was wondering how on earth you had such a sandwich on a morning service out of Heathrow. Bloody goat cheese to which I am allergic mixed with beetroot. Could be worse but could be much better too. Nice efficient service that morning while BA has gone BoB all the way. I like the view of those twin AZ buses at T4. That airline I often fly with still struggling but alive. Great spotting at CDG even though it's not an easy place for good views. Love the 345 Mahan Air. Sorry to read about you cam going nuts. At least, you had a good liquid compensation. AF still generous on the booze, even on short flights. Your rating of entertainment is pretty harsh though. There's an App you can use to download loads of content beforehand. Thanks for sharing.
The sandwich was on my return flight that afternoon. The Pain Au Chocolat & Cappuccino was on the out bound morning flight. My GoPro is all working in order now and have done about 10 flights with it and all is good! AF and KLM are my main choices for AMS & CDG these days (especially once the BA767s go). I do enjoy Air France. Want to try them long haul. Having done LHR-CDG with A380, B772 & B789.
Thanks for this FR. It pays to be an AF customer outside of France as we don't get those vouchers on our birthday ^^ Decent service on both legs. There is another spotting point on a parking lot near the hotels at the RER train station, but only for taxiing planes though.
I am with Flying Blue and it was something like £20/25EUR off. Was perfect excuse. I walked along this embankment by a main road heading to Concorde and I saw a lot of taxiing & parked activity I couldn't see from T1. It was a great day out!
