This is probably the strangest flight in my life. I took a flight with DAP, local flights provider in the south of Chile to get to the city situated the most in the south in the world - Isla Navarino and its Puerto Williams. I am reporting the return flight as this was very interesting. First of all, it was very full. The small airport, which was even smaller than my flat in Prague, accommodates only this flight during a day.
When we got to the airport, where only gravel road leads, we waited for a few minutes to get boarding passes - plastic! I have never seen something like this! They confirmed your name in their papers because of no computer system, gave you those "tickets" and check-in was done.
No security, nothing. When the plane arrived and we were ready for boarding, they let first those passengers who made online check-in (and were assigned seats) to get onboard continuing with us who checked at the airport. We gave them back out provisional boarding passes and chose our seats in the former SWISS aircraft.
Said goodbye to Puerto Williams…
and enjoyed the views of Tierra del Fuego on our way to Punta Arenas…
Puerto Williams - WPU
Punta Arenas - PUQ
