Hi,

I connected on that flight as my last sector from Munich to Melbourne. KLIA has a somehow strange boarding concept: You do security at each gate and then scan your boarding pass to have boarded. However actually then you have to wait in the closed gate which e.g. does not even offfer toilets. I was in the gate quite early and had to wait ca. 30 minutes before boarding to the plane actually started. I do not really like that procedure.

As it was already dark outside I unfortunately could not get any proper shots of my Malaysia Airlines A330.

Once on board I was greeted by a friendly cabin crew and directed towards my aisle seat in the ack of the plane. Below please find some shots of the in general nice and modern looking Economy Class cabin.

The seats were comfortable and offered enough seat pitch. However there were no foot rests which could have helped to find a more comfortable sleeping position.

We pushed back quite on time and a fligh time of 7 hours 20 minutes to melbourne was announced. As I was seated in an aisle seat in the center block there will be no outside view pictures in this report unfortunately.

About 20 minutes after take off cabin lights were switched on and crew soon started to distribute small packets of peanuts were distributed from baskets.

This was followed by aperitif drinks from trays passed around: water, orange & apple juice was on offer. I just had some water.

About 1 hour into the flight the trolleys made their appearance and dinner was offered. Choice for main dish was chicken noodles or pan fried fish with rice. i had the latter one. Drinks were also offered plus warm bread rolls which however were almost cold when they reached my row.

In general the dinner tasted quite good and I was surprsied to see such a complete dinner service inclusing peanuts starter round on such a late evening flight. Service ended with hot drinks or other options of cold drinks. I had a cup of tea to finish.
Afterwards cabin lights were switched off and I tried to sleep but that was impossible. I just could not fall to sleep while being seated. But I guess that is just a general problem for me: sleeping while seated is very hard for me.

So I was happy when ca. 2 hours before landing cabin lights were switched on and breakfast service started. However breakfast was very small: just a cold small bagel with cheese spread and vegetables on it. I had a cup of tea and juice wth it. The breakfast was very small and did not have a lot f taste.

Finally the flight came to an end and we touched down in Melbourne perfectly on time.

My luggage arrived with one of the first bags on the belt. So the priority tag worked fine. I had received that back in Munich at the Lufthansa Check In because I travelled in Condor Business Class on my Frankfurt - Kuala Lumpur leg. So amazing that this worked fine also outside the big airline alliances routines!

Conclusion

In general Malaysia Airlines offered a good Economy Class experience: comfortable seating, friendly crew and a nice and big dinner. Only the breakfast service was disappointing. Also inflight entertainment was not the best selection and at least one hot towel / refreshing towel run would be appreciated on such a night flight.
