August 15th is a bank holiday in France, a perfect opportunity for a day-trip in Europe, but don’t be misled, this day-trip is not about the destination XD
To make things work I had to position myself with a doggy early flight to Frankfurt, I could either take AF or LH but I chose the later as it has been a while since I flew with the germans, and I was keen to try out their NEK seats, especially to compare them with our infamous AF “ironing board”
Terminal 1 at Paris CDG
I am getting my BP from the automated kiosk

LH’s satellite has been refurbished and is quite pleasant.

I was secretly hoping for a Sharklet version of the A320, but this is all the opposite, D-AIQD one of the oldest of the fleet!

Boarding started on-time

Complimentary French and German newspapers

The long awaited seats!

Well there are very thin too and not that much comfortable, but they do recline and offer a descent sized table.

09R is in use today

Service consisted of a chocolate filled croissant and a choice of hot and cold drinks

Taste was very average but quantity wise it was good

LH magazine often has very good articles on the company backstage operations and airports, this month they are showcasing A330-300 new Business-Class retrofit.

We landed on the new runway facing west then had to taxi for a good 10 minutes before getting to our gate, but luckily not a bus gate!

Conclusion

LH is offering a consistent European product, I am not a fan of their new seats but IMHO they seem more advanced then AF counterpart. It’s good to offer on a morning flight a full choice of drinks and not only HOT DRINKS, and a descent sized croissant...a word to the wise.

Stay tuned, the beast is yet to come!

  • Thank you for sharing this first report in English!

8AM, you call that early? LOL

Hmmm...as far as I can tell the only difference with the NEK and the AF ironing boards is the recline and leather. So it's basically just a sticky reclining ironing board, LOL

Awesome pics on takeoff from CEE DEE GEE and on arrival at FRA!

The one thing I will give LH over AF is that the catering is pretty decent for such a short flight and better than AF's Sucré-salé

    • Thanks for your comments.

I have no issue with a 8am departure when I can get to the airport in a fast and reliable way, btw this morning I took my routine (once a month) 6am flight from Nice to Paris and I kind of like it ^^.

Wx were indeed good on that day.

    • Damn that RER! LOL. I like early morning flights, especially getting to watch the sun rise from the air. The only part I don't like is getting up early, LOL.

  • Did you introduce yourself when boarding :-?

So i guess your choice will go for the quantity of croissant and not the (so-called) quality promoted by the code barre airline^^

    Merci for this FR

    • Yes of course, I am polite and have been advised to do so.

To be honest AF pastries are fresh and way better, but they are also ridiculously small!

  • Thanks for this first report in English,

In June, the paper of the boarding pass from the kiosk was in Lufthansa's colors. Spotting views are restricted at CDG1.

I agree with you, the NEK aren't so comfortable but I can appreciate the recline. Great overview from CDG.

Catering, it's great to have orange juice the morning. Incredible view of FRA on arrival.

Thanks again and see you soon.

    • My original BP retrieved from the kiosk desk was in LH colors, but they then changed it at the boarding with a blank one.

  • Thanks for this report. Frankfurt is a friendly spotting airport

  • Oh you got a window seat, how lucky XD

LH meal service is usually quite generous, but AF seems a bit better in the morning with their baskets pastries (when it's not all frozen...) instead of this plastic bag.

Can't wait to read the next FR, and the one after :D

    Thanks fodat FR.

  • Not quite your type of airline and cabin ;)

As for the first report in English...well, you should keep it up because there are actually fewer mistakes than in your French writings XD !

  • Thanks you for your first FR.....XD !

The pictures are better in quality than your LHR-CDG FR. Maybe because the pictures of this FR aren't in Flight-Report.com ?

  • Thanks for this report full of superb shots. FRA used to be my favorite airport to connect and it was so easy to take the S8 or S9 from the airport to the Hauptbahnhof. I wish more airports around the world were that close to their cities. As you said, LH has a consistent product so you know what to expect when you fly them. I must say that their intra-European J catering is pretty decent too.

  • Very nice pictures of CDG and of FRA, brought me very fond memories, thanks for sharing!
