Hello all!
Welcome to my new flight report covering my flights from London City Airport to Bangkok via Frankfurt Main.
This flight is operated by Lufthansa's A340-300 D-AIFC, one of the last for the season, now replaced again by the A380-800.
As the A340 is getting old and commonly scrapped, it was great still flying on this legend, that Lufthansa Group is still perfectly preserving.
Anyways, back to the trip, I will soon post again my LCY-FRA leg, but let's start with this one.
As I live very close to City Airport, I decided to take this flight from City, and to my surprise the roundtrip ticket I took was very cheap departing from City, only GBP440! I purchased this flight from the Lufthansa website, but my return to London was scheduled on the SWISS this time, B777.
As I just landed from LCY and parked in a remote location, a very fancy bus took us to the terminal, fully equipped with A/C. The terminal was quite empty at this time, but security queues took forever. For some unknown reason, I had to go through security lanes twice, which took around 50 mins to go through, I didn't understand why twice!
I had little time to go through the duty free and eat around, but a nice surprise, MEA logo, missed flying on this airline! But I was quite thrilled to be flying on Lufthansa long-haul, Frankfurt's catering always surprises me.
That flight was literally full in economy, LH sold premium economy seats for 199EUR at the gate for a special upgrade price, I was about to get it but unluckily for me a passenger purchased the last available seat.

This is my bird, an old birdy who joined Lufthansa in 2001. D-AIFC confirmed. Boarding has began, I was prioritized thanks to my Star Alliance VFT status.

Once I stepped on board, I could see that the cabin was still clean and nice, refurbished of course, then I knew that for the next 11 hours I would be seated comfortably somehow in economy. This cabin is configured as 2-4-2, and I had a neighbour to my right.
Once boarding completed, we slowly started taxiing to runway 18 for departure,
Little sneak peak of the cabin.

We started rolling very slowly on the runway, and rotated by the ending edge of rwy18, a very common characteristic of the A340-300, when fully loaded takes forever to gain speed. We then climbed very slowly to our cruising altitude, I have not shared pictures as It was very dark outside.
Shortly after reaching 10,000feet, snacks were served.

Followed by the meal - doesn't look very appealing but those were beef spatzle, a German traditional dish. It was very tasty actually.

The salad, nothing fancy but simple, was dressed with a vinaigrette, not bad! And the dessert was ''okay'', a common dessert I eat on LH.

I watched a movie then and connected to WiFi, which comes with a cost, but I had an option of 1Gb which is more than enough! I have some movies aboard, and was connected with my peers from above. But not long after, I was already asleep, preparing for my amazing trip!
When I woke up, it was already light outside.

And breakfast was served! Right on time. I think I woke up to the smell of food! Nothing too Fancy, but rich enough to wake up prior landing, Eggs, Yoghurt and Jam and bread.

Honestly, I loved it! I think the food served was very energizing, and drinks were served every little while. I punched out on a few Baileys, a bit of a change ;)
And here we are entering the THAI airspace.

As we are approaching BKK Suvarnhabumi airport, time to put the Thai language in motion, I briefly chatted with a Thai cabin crew, she was happy and impressed I could speak a bit Thai, and was very happy to help.

Almost there! I see you Thailand!

And as we landed, it was time we got greeted with the famous ''Thai smile''! I passed immigration very quickly as I am a VFT Star Alliance card member, remember in BKK, THAI governs the area, they are the star alliance of Asia!

Thank you very much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this FR! Stay tuned for my upcoming flights!!
