Hello everyone,
In February 2012, I published my first flight report (and now have 17 of them written in French). One year later I was informed that Flight-Report was becoming bilingual and last week publishing in English finally became possible.
Today I would like to experiment a first report in English and what a better destination than London for this occasion.
Let's go back to end of January this year. I had to plan a business trip to London. The easiest solution was quite obvious since British Airways is proposing direct flights from Lyon to London for a very decent price. I booked my roundtrip ticket for less than 150€ (130£ - 200$). Moreover the schedule is perfect since it allows to spend a full day (or 2 in my case) at destination.
The (not so exciting) routing is the following:
- BA0365 Lyon LYS - London LHR (British Airways, A319) - You are here
- BA0364 London LHR - Lys (British Airways, A319) - not reported
Before leaving to the airport, I tried to get my boarding pass using BA app, unfortunately I did not manage to make it work properly.

Fortunately, thanks to an early departure, the airport was not crowded and it did not take time to get a window seat (16A) at the BA desk.
At that time, it became obvious I had forgotten my camera. Sorry but this FR is going to be limited to low-quality pictures taken from my cell phone (producing unpredictable results with low ambient luminosity).
On board and during the flight
Our plane that morning is an Airbus A319 (G-DBCG).

The cabin is clean, the pitch is standard and the window offers a nice view of the left wing.

Soon after boarding, we had a smooth take-off and a glimpse of Lyon by night before reaching our flight level above the clouds.

15 minutes later, it is already time for a snack. No English breakfast served on board but hot drinks, orange juice and a salami sandwich which would have been well-adapted later in the day but is not an actual delimoment for a French traveller at such an early time (I personally prefer sweet stuff to wake up!).

The sun began to rise while we were crossing the Channel (I guess).

Then it is already time for the descent for an almost on time landing (less than 5 minutes late but for LHR it is good right?).

At LHR airport
Fast deboarding and view of our A319 from the airbridge on this rainy day.

The UK is not part of the Schengen Area and thus even European citizenship need to say hello to the custom officers. At least it was before ePassports that allow to walk directly through an automatically gates way faster.

Finally to reach London city center, a good option is to catch the Heathrow Express train. It is very convenient and tickets can be bought directly from people waiting for you at the airport exit with a portable credit card terminal (you don't even need to change money!).

Here is a last bonus picture from Paddington station.

Thanks :)
