This is my trip report with LOT Polish Airlines from Toronto to their home base - Warsaw.
The check-in desks at Toronto Airport for LOT are very far from the other Star Alliance Partners and actually in the end of the terminal.
Toronto is the one of the hubs of Air Canada which counts with a very modern and spacious business class lounge with a good food selection. At the time I visited it was quite empty.
This flight was leaving from Gates E and operated by SP-LSE, a Boeing 787-9, Line number 843 and 4 months old.
I love the Business Class seat of LOT because is one of the most spacious compared with the European competitor. It counts with 24 flat bed seats, on 4 rows and 2-2-2 config. I really like this "open space" configuration than actually the "shell-type" seats which are sold as giving more privacy but in the end are made to reduce the space and allowing the airlines to install a couple of more seats, in the example of the 787-9 they fit more 6 seats than the LOT´s configuration.
I got a welcome drink and canape after boarding and the push-back was made on time. Due to ATC restriction, the take-off was 30 minutes after.
While we reached cruise level the crew started to serve the dinner starting with salad, shrimps and smoked mackerel, followed by the main course. From the 3 options (Cod, Chicken and beef) I chose the cod with potato and broccoli. I also enjoyed the fact of the main course to be served on a "normal" size plate instead of the "mini" plates which are use commonly in the Long-haul Business Class of the European Airlines. For dessert I had ice cream and selection of cheese. Funny the fact I got a napkin from the Portuguese Airline SATA, probably someone from Toronto´s catering swap it, but made me laugh because I worked a lot on their planes and was a nice way to remember it.
After dinner I set my "bed" for 5 hours sleeping. I would like to point that LOT also offers a bed sheet to cover the seat (In Europe I think only Austrian Airlines also does this - if not please correct me :)
1h before landing I had omelet, mushrooms, potatoes and fruits as breakfast.
