Hi,

This year's summer holiday started very early in the morning at Munich Terminal 1 D area where a lot of action was already going on in the Condor check in area with several holiday flights scheduled to depart soon - luckily waiting time at the dedicated Business Class counter was short and soon I headed to the Fast lane security check which was also quick.

Once airside there was nothing to do that early in the morning - all shops were still closed and only one coffee bar offered some take away drinks & snacks. I walked around a little bit and captured a shot of this Condor Airbus 320 headed for Lamezia Terme in Southern Italy.

Boarding for my flight to Kalamata started with a short delay and in quite a chaotic way - announcements made were almost impossible to hear but eventually it looked like last rows of Economy Class and Business Class were allowed to board first. At the gate each passenger also had to show the QR code sent by Hellenic Ministery by email after online registration - without this code no boarding to flights bound for Greece is currently allowed due to Covid 19.

I was greeeted by two friendly flight attendants and took my window seat in the second row.

Obviously this Condor Airbus 321 used to fly for a different airline before as could be seen by the non standard Condor seats and the red headrest covers. Also this plane was missing any overhead monitors.

All in all the cabin felt modern and clean - however somehow the red disturbed the typical Condor colors and features like boarding music and short films on the screens were missing that normall get you on holiday mood on Condor planes very quickly.

The flight ended up rather full in the end - especiall in Economy Class which started in row 5 - Business Class had 5 seats occupied in total.
Once boarding was completed a bottle of water and an amenity kit were distributed in Business Class.

It is very nice that Condor still provides amenity kits on their short & medium haul flights - the set was complete and also featured a very nice inflatable pillow that I also made use of later on the beach and pool.

A manual safety demonstration was conducted and soon we taxied to our runway.

We took off in nice sunrise atmosphere for a flight scheduled to take ca. 2 hours.

We soon reached our cruising altitude heading South across the Alps.

About 15 minutes after take off a snack bag was served free of charge to every Business Class passenger - due to Covid 19 those snack bags have temporarily replaced the standard warm Taste of the World meals on short & medium haul Condor flights. Condor still used a lot of former Thomas Cook branded stuff like napkins etc. Most likely they have tons of this co-branded material left.

photo img_3235

The bag had a lot of prepackaged content and definitely you did not leave the plane hungry.

Business Class included all kinds of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks free of charge. However hot drinks are currently not offered on Condor flights due to Covid 19. I ordered some tomato juice.

Another 15 minutes later warm cheese & ham sandwiches were also served free of charge in Business Class - this one was also heavy but tasted nice.

Drink refills were offered several times by the friendly cabin crew and I ordered some more juice and water.

Condor recently has restablished a very small version of duty free shopping and this small brochure was distributed to interested passengers.

photo img_3242photo img_3243photo img_3244

Apart from that no print materials like newspapers or inflight magazine are currently provided due to Covid 19.

The flight progressed quickly and soon we started our descent along the beautiful Greek coast line.

We banked over some mountains, heading to the sea again before landing at small Kalamata Airport.

We landed 10 minutes behind schedule and taxied to the apron in front of the very small terminal building.

Disembarkation was via stairs directly via the apron into the small terminal.

Baggage arrived quite soon with the priority Business Class tags working rather fine.

    Thanks for this review.
    Strange cabin, looks like TK's.
The amenity kit is a great touch and clearly helps in the premium feel of the service in spite of the simplified meal.
Hope Condor makes it through the crisis, a nice airline with great identity.

Thanks for this report Alex! It's interesting to see what Condor offer in Premium in these times of Covid. While the meal is nothing spectacular, it's positive that they've maintained a reasonably generous meal service and still offer alcoholic drinks. I was glad Condor survived the Thomas Cook demise--let's hope they make it through Covid.

    Thanks for sharing!
