Hi,
After a very long flying break due to Covid 19 and all the travel restrictions I finally was in the air again some weeks ago :)
I arrived at Munich Airport Terminal 2 ca. 2 hours before my flight to Palma de Mallorca - a rather long and extremely slowly moving queue made me wait ca. 30 minutes at the Lufthansa Business Class Check In counters. Staff nowadays needs very long to check all the Covid entry documents like in my case a negative PCR test and the QR code from the Spanish border control authorities (after online registration).

Security check took another 15 minutes and finally I was airside. Actually not much to miss there. Due to Covid limitations in Germany only very few shops and restaurants for take away food were open. However at least the Lufthansa Business Class Lounge was open for a brief visit. It was the only lounge open back mid of May and consequently rather crowded.

Due to Covid limitations Lufthansa only offered an extremely basic service inside the lounge:
- Water bottles
- Some pre packaged snacks, sandwiches & breads
- Plain coffee from a thermal bottle

Better than nothing but really nothing to make you spend a long time at this place. Also no reading material was available due to Covid.

Soon I left the lounge and myself on the way to the gate - spotting some nice planes after such a long break.

Another new Covid control checkpoint was set up before reaching a separated boarding gate area - this again caused waiting of ca. 10 more minutes. In the end I reached the gate and boarding was already almost ended when I finally made my steps onto the Lufthansa A320neo bound for Palma de Mallorca.
A rather friendly crew was welcoming everybody at the door offering sanitizer towelettes.

The flight was completely full - Business Class was huge spreading over 9 rows with every seat occupied. I was surprised to see the new Lufthansa narrowbody seats installed on this aircraft.

The pitch is fine and the seat looks fresh and is rather comfortable.

However the tables got very small compared to the older model and are not ideally for Business Class tray service.

Finally boarding was completed and we left the rainy parking position with a flight time of 2 hours being announced.

We powered into the cloudy skies breaking into sunny skies ca. 10 minutes later.

Cabin crew soon closed the curtain to Economy Class and started service by trolley from the front of the cabin.

The crew was acting quite friendly although being very busy with the huge Business Class cabin. A cold meal tray was served and a bread roll (heated but already cold when it reached my row) was placed on the tray.

Without the plastic covers looking nicer - the meal tased rather fine and was an appropriate service on that medium range European flight:

I ordered some drinks with it including white wine and a cup of tea.

The flight proceeded smoothly and once the trays were cleared I asked for another glass of white wine. Cabin crew said they should limit service to one run on such flights due to Covid but the flight attendant was very pleasant and made an exception bringing me another glass.
A refreshing towel was available with the cutlery on the meal tray.

We crossed the Mediterranean Sea with some nice views reaching the island of Majorca in sunny skies with crystal clear waters.

Holiday mood was perfectly on enjoying the nice views of the island during descend.

We touched down on time, taxiied quite long until finally reaching our gate parking position next to an Eurowings Airbus heading ack to Stuttgart in Germany.

Thanks for reading,
FlyAlex
Thanks Alex for that new report. I tend to think that all majors in Europe are now proposing an abyssal service and LH is no exception. The tray is fine - though not my taste - but only 1 drink service!!! Only 1 lounge open for all passengers! Long queues at checkin even in business! What impresses me the most… 9 rows in BC. Do you all try to collect the double status miles for Senator renewal??? ;)
Wow! Great to see you back after quite a long time without your reviews, already missed them as a MUC/STR based ;). In my opinion the food tray is very borderline to being okay on a flight with such a flight time but they have been already serving that for a longer time now so let's say it is already the 'new standard'. I have to admit that I see some similarities to a report I am currently writing on, e.g. the really long Business Class queue which in my case was almost as double as big as the economy class one. As a Senator aka Star Alliance Gold you are entitled to use the First Class Check-In though so that is not that bad. I did not like the offerings in the Lounge in MUC either, the snacks they serve in Frankfurt are way better imho. Only one drink service is a No-Go, too when it comes to almost two and a half hours of blocktime. Let's hope that this will improve soon!
Servus und viele Grüße,
Lars
