Hi,

Some outside views of Tenerife South Airport before heading to the Check In area.

Arriving quite late the check in area of Edelweiss was already very empty.

Unfortunately I had no more time left to visit the Lounge although one would have been available according to the check in agent. Instead a view of the apron before heading to the gate.

The design of the departure area unfortunately allowed only this shot of my waiting Airbus 320.

Boarding started a little bit late with priority borading first. The Edelweiss logo always looks great in my opinion.

A friendly crew welcomed everybody and I took my window seat - in total Business Class consisted of 8 fully occupied rows on this flight. Disinfection towels were provided at the entrance.

A bottle of water was already waiting at the seat. Pitch was fine and the plane generally in clean and good shape inside.

Some nice boarding music provided a relaxed atmosphere. Once boarding was completed a cabin crew member came around and asked everybody for the main dish selection verbually - no menu was provided. Choice was between a vegatarian Thai dish and some chicken breast with risotto which I decided to take.

A flight time of 3 hours 50 minutes was announced, the safety video played and we pushed back.

Now the bad part of the journey started - a problem with the left engine was realized and we had to park at a remote position for inspection and repair. In the end we had to wait there for 3 hours - with sometimes air condition being off because of the engine problems. One drink service and a biberli snack were provided to improve the waiting situation.

At least finally the flight was not cancelled, engine repaired and we started to taxi out and finall leave Tenerife with a huge delay.

Some last views of Tenerife while banking to cruising altitude.

A sticker on the seat back promotes the free inflight entertainment via streaming on your own device. This worked fine and provides airshow, some information and a basic selection of movies and music.

Inflight service started ca. 20 minutes later with a trolley that offered aperitif service. I had Gin Tonic and some water.

Another 30 minutes later the trolley appeared again and lunch was served. It was a very small tray and looked quite packed. Only a small salad was offered as starter. Warm bread and butter was offered from a basket. The whole meal tasted excellent however I think it is really small for a flight of that length. Before Covid Edelweiss used to offer table clothes, an additional big appetizer and cheese on its flights to the Canary Islands so cost cutting definitely is there.

I ordered some more drinks - refills were offered many times throughout the flight by the very friendly cabin crew.

Once we reached Spanish mainland trays were cleared away and coffee/tea and digestifs were offered. I ordered some coffee and Baileys.

We continued our journey across the Pyraneas.

Ca. 1 hour later we approached the Alps with some great sunset scenery.

A Biberli - the typical Edelweissair farewell sweet was served.

We started our descend and docked at an airbridge of pier A.

Conclusion

Unfortunately this flight suffered from a huge delay due to technical issues which somehow produced a bad general impression on this trip. Apart from that the Edelweiss cree provided a very friendly service with loads of drink refills. The meal also tasted very nice - still it woul be very nice if Edelweiss brings back bigger meals again on their longest medium range flight like before Covid: A table cloth, proper starter, cheese and chocolates would definitely improve the meal service significantly again.

Interesting to compare the service with the Lufthansa flight. Seems overall to be similar, especially when it comes to meal service. Though Eidelwess offer a slightly better product with the seats having winged headrests and eye-level tablet holders and of course the streaming entertainment.

Too bad for the long delay--everything else seems quite good.

    Thanks for sharing!
