The flight taken was the last for Ryanair out of Frankfurt International, the route being dropped over the fees demanded by authorities. When the route started in late 2017, I was a bit sceptical if a LC carrier could mix it with the “major carriers” in a city like Frankfurt. I hate the term I told you so but at the back of my mind you did not need a financial analyst to know this was coming.

I took a few flights before on this route and they were disasters ranging from delayed departures or having to take a crowded bus to the off-site departure zone. As flight time approached I was beginning to think it would not be a nice flight, the airport was deserted compared to pre-COVID days, Burger King was closed, security took five minutes and I walked from Duty Free to D gates area without seeing a single person in the seating areas.
After going through the usual Ryanair boarding process of being asked to leave the gate seating to queue up and come back after passport check, with the splattering of confused passengers not knowing which line Speedy Boarding is, it felt just like a routine Ryanair flight with one getting what you pay for. Finally, the event started to click. Other passengers started asking what was going on. Bocelli’s Time to Say Goodbye playing, the ground handling staff lined up at the gate, some in tears. Now it dawned that this decision to stop operating from this airport has a human effect.

The flight staffed by a Spanish crew was uneventful as a Ryanair flight can get. Avoid the trolley and scratch cards. At one point the speaker to the intercom handset crackled out during the safety briefing but did return. The aircraft still had debris from the previous flight. My seat was a rickety one. I was asleep for half the flight. An hour after leaving Frankfurt International for the last time, I got off the aircraft to be met by the wind.
I doubt whether I would fly Ryanair to Hahn if I wanted to be in Frankfurt. Thanks for the service.

Hi there, this report is missing photos of the actual flight itself. Please add photos of the flight, as it is a requirement for a Flight-Report. Thanks very much!

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner- for the flight I had to get to Frankfurt as a friend was leaving Germany, I was meant to come back on a Monday, but there was no flights after the Saturday which tied in with Ryanair leaving Frankfurt. The airport company did not have this information printed anywhere. Until the staff arrived in a big group did the rest of the passengers get told what was happening. I have a love hate relationship with low cost carriers. This particular route I will miss as I am a Frankfurt regular and it was the first German city I went to. Hahn isn't Frankfurt for me so I will have to make do with Cologne or Dusseldorf.
