Hi,
I reached the very stylish and modern terminal building of Canberra in the afternoon just when a storm came up.

I was originally booked on a different flight, but because of the storm and some technical issues with one aircraft Qantas decided to put two flights together and mine was then scheduled to depart with a slight delay at ca. 5:30 PM.

The terminal of this airport is really nice and modern and provides a calm feeling with enough small shops and bars once airside. However it definitely feels somehow oversized for the view movements here.

A shot of waiting and departing aircraft during my waiting.

This would be the nice looking and rare Boeing 717 taking me to Melbourne today.

Boarding started organized and soon I settled into the comfortable seat with enough pitch. Unfortunately because of the rebooking I ended up in the middle seat - so no more outside pictures etc.

Flight was announced to take around an hour and about 10 minutes into the flight the friendly cabin crew provided an efficient and free of charge inflight service in Economy with some cheese and crackers and drinks of your choice where I ordered some white wine.

Deboarding at MEL was quick.

I really hope to fly a QF B717 when I visit Australia in November!
You're a lucky man!
The 717 is very rare this days, I hoped to catch Volotea flight in Europe with this aircraft but couldn't due to the corona virus. By now, they already retired the 717 from their fleet.
The cabin looks great, considering that the youngest 717 is almost 17 years old by now.
It seems to me that Qantas save their aircraft in good shape.
Thank you for sharing!
The QF 717 cabins still look very nice and the seats are a nice change from slimlines. The service is very good for such a short flight!
The 2-cabin 717s should all be outfitted with streaming IFE to personal devices, did QF not make that obvious, or was there just not enough time to check it out on such a short flight?
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! For sure the 717 is an interesting plane and in great shape at Qantas Link. The streaming IFE was also available but I did not try it because of the very short flight.
