INTRO
Hello again,
part two of my trip from MXP to BER. On my previous flight I just arrived from sunny Milan into rainy (and crowded) VIE. After spending some time in the AUSTRIAN SENATOR LOUNGE I continued my journey to Berlin.
Flight routing
- 1
- 2OS235 - Business - Vienna –> Berlin - A320
Austrian SENator Lounge (Schengen) @ VIE
I'm not a regular at VIE because it's not that conveniently located for most of my journeys, but everytime I'm here the airport is pretty crowded.
This was no exception today, so I rushed to the Austrian Lounges to hope for some relatively quiet space.
Within the Schengen-Part of Terminal 3 Austrian offers three Lounges which all share the same entrance. To the right of the reception is the normal Business Lounge which I believe has only views inside the terminal, directly left of reception is the HON Circle Lounge exclusivly for M&M HON and passengers with a same day First Class Flight of LH or LX and further left were I was standing while taking the picture is the Senator Lounge for all Start Gold Members and First Class passengers of other Start Alliance Carriers.

I was plesently surprised, that the Senator Lounge was okaish crowded and I found a nice seat with a view.

The Lounge has basicly just two sorts of seating, the main option being some mixture of lounge chairs and bistro style seating that you can see in this picture. In addition there are some seats with a higher backrest facing the big window forming some sort of relaxation area, although it's not closed off or anything like that from the rest of the lounge so it is not realy quieter around those seats.

Further down the back there is a buffet area, with hot and cold food and the standard LH Group Drink selection of soft drinks, beers, wines and spirits, although there are some regional touches like almdudler lemonade, austrian wines and I think even the gin came from austria.
Soon my aircraft arrived (the one just taxiing into the gate, half blocked by the other aircrafts) and as you can tell from this picture I had quite some walk to do :D.

VIE Airport
Departure Gate was F36, which is actually the last parking position directly on the terminal pier.

The gate was quite cramped when I arrived, with probably just enough seating for half of the plane.

Fortunately boarding started soon and after taking a short stop for Austrians Embrear-Farm …

… I was down the jetbridge and into the aircraft.

The flight

My seat today was 1F, although I'm not the biggest fan of row 1 (cause you can't strech your legs below the seat in front of you), an hour before check in the whole row was still empty so I changed to get a free seat and a free seat next to that seat aswell ;) .
As on the Embrear on my previous flight Austrians Euro-Business hard product is Economy Class seating, with the seat next to you blocked.
As the flight was fully booked, boarding took quite some time and I watched the A321 next door getting loaded and pushed back.

Finaly we were also ready to depart and we started taxiing to runway 29. Due to the rain my phone had a some issues with focussing correctly. So find some picture from the apron, mixed with some "artistic impressions".

And take-off.

And bye bye rainy Vienna.

As the flight to Berlin is quite short, service started just a few minutes after take-off. A cold meal was served again but this time it was exactly what I was expecting as VIE-BER vv is on this service level since covid (or even before that) and also below the 80-Minute-Flight-Time-Mark.

The clouds cleared a bit and I had some nice views of Czech Republic.

And enjoyed a lovely approach into Berlin.

And touch down.

Welcome to Berlin.
BER Airport

We parked next to an A350 from Turkish Airlines, bound for Istanbul.

Seated in Row 1 I was among the first of the aircraft and on my way to the baggage clame.

There are a few really good things about LHG Flights a BER, first of all the mainly park at the main pier between gates B20 to A20, and note at the more remote south pier. In addition, they use quite a good baggage handler, with (priority) baggage delivery around 20 minutes after landing.

So I soon had my bag, leaving baggage claim and on my way home.

I usualy take the train, but since I live slightly remote and there was a strike annoucement I had booked a shuttle.

In the end the strike good canceld last minute, but you never know :D.
So thanks for following along and until next time.
Thank you for this report. That is such a relatively small meal for business class. And a bit too cold for my taste.
Once again the meal is a bit disappointing. One expects more impressive meals from Do & Co, but again, like the previous flight, the actual flight time is very short so it’s understandable. As you mention, it’s been the same service since Covid so it’s time for some evolution.
Thanks for sharing!
