I’ve flown many times on Icelandair’s business class but I had never tried Lufthansa’s business class to Iceland. I’ve flown on Lufthansa’s business class on other routes, both short-haul and long-haul and I knew Lufthansa had a Eurobusiness configuration (while Icelandair has much better US first class-type seats) but I was curious to see what the soft product looked like. You can read my flight reports about Icelandair’s business class here.
I had booked a one-way ticket in economy class but I was offered, right after completing my booking, an upgrade for 110 € which I thought was very reasonable for four hours at the lounge and four hours on the plane.
I arrived from Brussels at about 17.45. Lufthansa has four business lounges at Munich Airport. I went to the one near gate K11, the one closest to my gate.

This lounge is quite big and although there were many passengers inside it didn’t feel crowded.
I took these photos towards the end of my stay when there were less people.

There was a small choice of newspapers which many lounges have now completely discontinued to offer.

There was a reasonably good choice of food.

The hot food was of average quality.

Some of the drinks:

I spent almost four hours at the lounge, mostly working. There are high chairs with small tables; it’s not the most comfortable way to work for several hours but at least there are two plugs to charge a mobile phone and a notebook at each working stations.

The boarding gate was very close to the lounge. There were already a lot of people and it was quite chaotic when I got there. Most of the passengers seemed to be tourists on connecting flights with only very few Germans or Icelanders.

Priority boarding was available for business class passengers.
The plane was D-AEIH, an A-321 built only two years ago.
Two crew members were welcoming boarding passengers at the door. “You’ll have a very long night”, I told them – their shift started at about 21:00 and was until 07:00 next morning.
Lufthansa has the usual Eurobusiness configuration on this route with 3-3 economy seats with the middle seats blocked on each side. There’s a movable divider between business and economy. There were three rows of business class on this flight and the load was 10/12. Economy seemed to be fully booked.
Legroom at seat 2C:

I didn’t take a photo of the cabin as it was almost full when I got there.
There was a pillow and a blanket waiting on all seats.
The cabin crew was very friendly, communicative, professional and in good mood.
Push-back was at 22.10 and we took off at 22.18 for a scheduled departure time of 22.05.
A printed menu was offered (unlike on Lufthansa’s shorter flights):

The first drink service came with some packed cashews.

My entire dinner was served on a tray:

Salmon fillet with Coffee and Lemon, Celery, Peas and Betroot. It was a good fine dining appetizer.

Boiled beef brisket with Horse-Radish Sauce, roasted Nut Butter Fingering Potatoes, Spinach and Carrots. This was a homestyle meal with a fancy name but it was quite average.

Hupferl with Coffee and Vanilla Cream.

I spent the remaining flight time listening to music from my mobile phone. There’s no in-flight entertainment on this plane.
We landed at Keflavík Airport at 00:17 for a scheduled arrival time of 00:10. Flight time was 03:59 which is quite long; it is sometimes as short as 03:20.
Thank you for reading my flight report.
