Introduction
Welcome to another trip report!
After spending a few days visiting family here in New Jersey, it was finally time to head back home to Salt Lake City, Utah. This morning I'll be taking a non-stop flight from Newark Liberty International Airport. Because of my medallion status, I was upgraded to comfort+ (with my seat being 11A) the day before which was very nice treat. And I was number 2 of 1 seat available on the upgrade list for first class so I wasn't expecting anything although I hate it when I come close like that but hey what can you do. My flight was super early with a departure time of 7am and I must say I'm not necessarily a morning person so a few cups of coffee will have to do ?.

The drive from Bayonne where I was staying with fam to EWR was a quick 20 minute ride with almost no traffic at this time in the morning.

Delta used to depart out of terminal 3 but has now moved their operations to the new terminal A.

arrival at ewr (terminal a)
Welcome to the new terminal A! I must say that comparing the old terminal to the new one is night and day!

Let's get those boarding passes ?.

Got my boarding passes and I'm all set to head to security control.

Airside
Although one thing hasn't really changed was the long queues in security control which took about 20-25 minutes to reach airside. It could be that there were a lot of early morning departures all leaving at once.

The flight information board.

After finding my gate I decided to find a little nook to settle down and wait for my flight to arrive from SLC. Here's another A321ceo that will be departing for Atlanta.

Also enjoying the beautiful early morning sunrise.

my aircraft
Here comes my A321 arriving from its red eye flight from SLC.

Some information about my plane:
Flight number: DL 1991
Aircraft: Airbus A321-211
Registration: N306DN
Delivered: July 15, 2016
Age: 7.2 years

boarding
Right as the inbound aircraft began deplaning the gate agents began arranging the boarding process for our flight.

At each gate there were these cool screens displaying flight info.

Eventually boarding commenced and I boarded with comfort+ group. Upon scanning my boarding pass the gate agent said that my seat had changed to 3B! Apparently someone had cancelled or something and I was given the last available first class seat. I was overjoyed yet sad because it was an aisle seat and I had lost my window seat in Y+, meaning I won't have takeoff or landing views. Nonetheless I was going to make the most of it.

seat 3b
A friendly FA greeted us at the boarding door and I made it to my seat for the next 5 hours!

Legroom was fantastic of course! These seats offered an impressive 37" of pitch and 21" of width.

Each seat had individual universal power outlets and usb ports under the PTV screens.

At each seat there was small bottle of water for each passenger. I should note that there wasn't any pre-departure beverages conducted by the FA which was a bit strange. Also, just as boarding concluded, the flight leader came on the intercom to mention that the flight was not loaded with headphones and apologized. I didn't have to worry as I had a few from previous flights in my book bag ?.

I noticed that there was some sort of mechanical problem in the cockpit but mechanics onboard were quick getting it fixed during boarding.

Eventually we pushed back slightly behind schedule and the safety video began playing. Shortly there after we took off.

Here's a look at the tray table which folded up from the armrest.

It's worth noting that there is free wifi available although you have to watch quite a few of commercials before being able to use it.

inflight service
About 30 minutes into flight the inflight service began with the FA placing table cloths on the tray table and taking drink orders. I went for an espresso martini, it's 5 o'clock somewhere ?.

Shortly after the lead FA began handing out the meal trays. Choices for breakfast this morning were brioche breakfast omelette or oatmeal, I went with the first option. At this point I had not eaten breakfast all this morning so I was very hungry.

The meal tray came with the main entree.

A small bowl of fruit.

A warmed croissant with butter and peach compote to accompany it.

Always nice to see real silverware.

Overall the meal was fantastic and definitely filled my tummy ?.

the loo
Shortly after the meal service I decided to pay the loo a visit. It was clean and normal as you'd expect, nothing special.

inflight entertainment
I decided to explore DL's fanatic IFE system which has countless movies, shows, live tv to choose from.

My absolute favorite part though was the interactive map.

We were just about flying over Chicago at this point.

The FA kept passing through the cabin throughout the flight offering drinks to anyone who wanted one which was great, I got a coffee.

Shortly after I decided to take a nap and slept for a solid 2 hours. When I woke up again we were flying over Denver.

seat back contents
In the seat back you'll find the usual safety card…

Wifi guide…

And lastly an air sickness bag.

Shortly after we bang our initial descent into SLC.

Welcome to Salt Lake City!

This concludes the trip report, thanks for reading!
