Hi,
Being on an International transfer (requiring to do immigration and baggage recheck) at Tom Bradley International Terminal I actually only had ca. 30 minutes left to spend in the Star Alliance Lounge to which I had access because of my Star Alliance Gold status).
The Lounge is huge and has some nice seating areas in different arrangements. However it was very crowded this afternoon.
In the end I had a nice seat on the outdoor terrace which I really liked.
I had a look at the buffet but did only have some drink being on a quick visit.
A nice A380 was already waiting and boarding when I reached the gate.
Boarding was quick via a dedicated priority lane.
Typically Lufthansa style a rather cold crew welcomed me at the entrance and I took my aisle seat.
Lufthansa Premium Economy still is a nice product but there are for sure more modern and more comfortable seats on the market nowadays.
A very cheap Economy style pillow and blanket were on the seat.
The armrest hold a nice Porsche Design amenity kits with some basics.
A water bottle was already waiting at the center controle.
Once boarding came to an end, I was offered an orange juice welcome drink. No other choices were available and it was served in a plastic cup. But still nice to get a welcome drink for sure.
Another flight attendant passed by distributing the menu for this flight.
We pushed back perfecly on time and started our journey that would take ca. 10 hours 50 minutes this night.
After took off we passed some heavy turbulences for quite a while which is why the inflight service started with a delay.
It was really disappointing that no headsets were waiting at the seat but only distributed now from the cabin crew. In addition the headsets were very cheap and standard Economy ones. A Premium Economy for sure deserves better quality headsets.
Soon aperitif service started and I had a nice Gin & Tonic with some crackers. Unfortunately plastic cups are the standard in Lufthansa Premium Economy.
Soon rubbish was cleared and a (cheap style) hot towel was offered.
Followed by dinner and more drinks. I selected the chicken main course. The main dish was fine - however the starter and dessert were really simple and nothing to talk about. A tiny little warm bread was offered as well.
One proper glass waits on the meal tray which I used for my glass of white wine - at least one drink not in a plastic cup.
Coffee or tea were offered towards the end of the meal service.
During the whole flight the cabin crew did a very robotic and cold service not really interested in serving the customers - however you could see them happily chatting between themselves most of the time in the galleys.
Soon cabin lights were dimmed and I watched a movie and tried to get some sleep. This was tricky as the seat somehow was not that comfortable and e.g. only had a foot rest but missed a leg rest.
Ca. 1 hours 45 minutes before landing hot towels were offered while crossing Ireland.
Next a warm breakfast with a tiny bread roll was served. Juice was offered in a real glass waiting on the tray while coffee came in a paper cup.
We started our approach into Munich and landed on time.
Unfortunately baggage claim took for hours here at Munich - like so often. Only ca. 1 hour 45 minutes after touch down the first bag arrived on the belt.
