Hello everyone
Here we are on our first segment, which will take us to Los Angeles.
Granted, it's not the direct route!
But I couldn't pass up ITA's offer of €1,400 for a TUN-FCO-LAX flight in business, compared with nearly €4,500 for a CDG-LAX with our national airline.
What's more, I'd been tempted for some time to try ITA before its change of alliance (the file is progressing with the European Commission).
Flight routing
- 1AF 1384 -ECO- Paris > Tunis - Airbus A320
- 2AZ 867 - BUSINESS - Tunis > Rome
- 3AZ 620 - BUSINESS - Rome > LAX
- 4AZ 621 - BUSINESS - LAX > Rome
- 5AF 1085 - ECO- TUNIS > Paris
Tonight the car is in a private parking lot in the freight area, with a driver dropping it off at 2F.
It's very practical and economical

At 6.15pm this Friday, access is smooth.

Check-in
Surprisingly, we checked in at 2F and then went to 2L.

We arrived at 6.25pm

Our flight is not yet displayed

Hardly anyone at check-in

We were told to check in with the crew as the plane was full (although we were among the first to check in) F5 and D5 and F18 for Madame
Stroller dropped off, I hope she'll follow!

We enter the queue at 6:38pm (we lost several minutes at check-in, impossible to fold the stroller, we're not kidding).

It took almost 10 minutes to get through the PIF, and a couple not used to going through the PIF had to use ten or so trays to get all their cabin bags out.
the 2F lounge
We decided to stop at lounge 2F, before moving on to Terminal E.

The doors wouldn't open automatically, our dedicated lounge being 2L, but we were greeted manually with a smile by the hostesses.
With a small gift for the little one

The weather was busy, but fortunately less so than on May 1st.

A plane approaching for landing

My first small selection

A limited offer while waiting for the hot offer

At 7pm, the hot offer is not yet available,

it will arrive around 7.15pm

My second selection

The evening bartender, Charlie (legend has it that he's the best bartender in the salon).

He made us 2 "mojitos royals", brought to our table with a smile.

Really good, and well-charged

We left the lounge at 8:05pm to head for 2L.

On the whole, it's not very busy, with only one person ahead of us in the Sky-Priority queue.
It might be a good idea to go via 2F to 2E (see if this is possible for all flights departing from 2E).

A trio of aircraft flying for the group

We arrive safely at terminal 2L at 8:20 p.m.

EXHIBITION 2E
Right on schedule, we decide to make a quick stop at the lounge (we're a bit greedy).

Surprise, the hot offer is different from the 2F lounge, so we don't have the time or the sweet tooth to try it out

the cold menu is more tempting than at 2F

Except that Madame saw semolina with milk on the dessert menu, so we tried it, and it was delicious.

A quick tour of the lounge,

the kids' corner is really disappointing, with no games or activities on offer.

We left the lounge at the start of theoretical check-in.

BOARDING
In front of our steed 10 minutes later

As boarding hasn't yet begun, I'm off to admire this fabulous B747 bound for Seoul (one day I hope to be able to try it out).

Our steed of the day is F-GKXO, an A320 just over 16 years old.

As is often the case, boarding begins, but we're parked in the aisle.
We're not the only ones

A bit of a traffic jam

Our pilot, who responds very kindly to our daughter's cuckoo calls

Instant PS and door

And fuselage shot

As we enter, the right-hand door opens to load the catering.

I explain to the purser our little seat problem: I'm in 5F, the little girl is in 5E, and the lady is in 18F.
He offers to take our seats and will see after take-off….
Fortunately, the PAX in D5 (a Delta Platinum member) very kindly offered to exchange his 5D for the 18F.
It's worth noting that a stewardess will come and check before takeoff whether we're all together.
Impossible to check the loading of the suitcases, as they are in containers.

We're on the Air France side

The cabin has been retrofitted, as the baggage compartments allow suitcases to be stowed on edge.
Some passengers have difficulty stowing their suitcases correctly, requiring the crew to intervene several times.

safety notice

our steed hasn't dropped a load since this morning

the flight
Push with 25 minutes delay

Quick taxi to the runway

A friend waiting for take-off

Alignment, push take-off on 26R

On the right side to catch a glimpse of the sunset

30 minutes after takeoff, a light snack is served: cheese sandwich for me, Perrier (tonight it's Badoit) and Coke.

During the visit to the front of Madame's cabin with the little one, the purser asked if the little one liked chocolate, and she was spoiled.
At this age, you can really sleep anywhere

Having never been treated this way since I became a Platinum, I called the purser who explained that they'd been out of touch with the iPad for 48 hours and that it was therefore impossible to know the status of passengers, so we'd be entitled to a refill of water following this exchange.
TUNIS
Start of descent at 22:30 (French time)

Approach at 10.45pm
Kiss landing at 22h50

Passage in front of the fire department

Arrival at gate at 10:55pm

A little '70s effect in the corridors

Tunis loves you

The PAF passed in less than 3 minutes.
The only question is, what's your hotel?
Carts galore

Carpet number 3 for us this evening

Stroller taken out first at 11:18pm and more than 15 minutes waiting for suitcases, no respect for baggage priorities.

Exit on the left after passing through customs

I had planned to take a Bolt to the hotel at a cost of 32 TN or just over 11€, I asked a policeman for the Bolt collection point, a cab driver hearing this offered his services, we agreed on the sum of 15€.
The hotel offered me a transfer at €30…per person, i.e. €90 for 17 kilometers!
