a short hop on batik air from singapore to kuala lumpur
Sometimes my travels are booked the day before travel and in this case I landed from an Emirates flight from Melbourne at 07:30 am. I needed to get to Kuala Lumpur to pick up another flight however I forgot to book and stood at the airport deciding what to do.
I eventually found Batik Air and was going to book economy for $150 and after a little search I found out that business was $210 so I thought might as well go for it.
This was the basic business class which didn't include lounge access. If I wanted lounge it would have been an extra $140 AUD which I didn't see any value due to the short time between flights.
This flight was scheduled for 10:20AM however I could see that the aircraft was landing on departure time so I slowly browsed around the terminal before making my way to the departure gates. The aircraft was turned around quite quickly in approximately 15 minutes so boarding called at 10:35AM and priority boarding strictly enforced in Singapore. The gate was swarmed with general passengers however the ground staff did an amazing job in ensuring the two booked C passengers boarded first.

Batik air's C cabin consists of 12 recliners with generous recline, footrests and IFE monitors which wasn't active.

Quite a clean and calming cabin with the colour palette.

IFE handheld controller and personal tv screens inside the centre arm rest which wasn't activated.

More than basic seat controls with recline, lumbar support, footrest and foothold.

I found legroom to be quite amazing with a lot of space from my knee and the seat in front especially if the forward seat was reclined. In seat power was also found in the centre arm rest on top of the life jackets which wasn't switched on for this flight.

The crew came around and offered pre departure drinks of water or pepsi. I decided on pepsi and the cabin crew also left me a water.

Boarding was completed quite fast and we pushed back and made our way to the runway for take off. The flight time on this flight would be approximately 43 minutes. Take off out of Changi is another one of my favourite views.

The cabin is so calm especially when theres only two passengers in the cabin.

The seatbelt sign was extinguished and the crew secured the curtain between the cabin with a bulldog clip. I guess its one of the scenarios where you do what you gotta do :P

On each seat was a pillow. I didn't see any blankets and didn't feel like I needed to ask for one.
Cabin crew came around and asked if I wanted to have a snack to which I had a choice between a mushroom and cheese or a chicken, cheese and mushroom toasted sandwich.
You could probably twist my arm if you mention chicken, cheese and mushroom in one sentence so thats the option that I went with on this flight.

The toasted sandwich was quite delicious. It was a herbed bread which went so well with the filling. I later found out that this is what is on the buy on board menu in economy class. The accompanying sides on the linen tray was a nut and rice cracker mix and a warm red velvet brownie.
I decided I needed a black tea to wash down the delectable dessert.

The crew asked if I wanted anything else before we commenced descent into KUL and the meal I had onboard perfectly hit the spot.
Our scheduled arrival time was supposed to be 11:25AM and we were 35 minutes after schedule by the time I disembarked.

The crew were very quick to close the curtain to allow C guests to have an advantage of being first to disembark.
Love this. What a way to live! It’s so thrilling haha. For 60$ extra, business sounds like a no brainer (assuming this is AUD)
Gotta say, I really like the design of Batik Air (epsecially for their price compared to SQ.Garuda etc). The seats on your aircraft look quite modern and for a short flight, the meal sounded more than decent as well! The little cute cups as well!!!
Another fantastic flightreport, gosh it makes me want to be back in Asia so badly. Thanks for sharing!
Nice report once again! Cool to see a report on Batik/Malindo. The J cabin looks really nice and spacious and I like the colour scheme. For barely 45 minutes in the air, it's a pleasant surprise to see anything more than a snack. Overall very convincing product and good bang for the buck.
