Review of ITA Airways flight from Rome to Madrid in Business

The Start

Well, we survived the night. We went to bed in our hotel given by ITA at around 3 AM as we waited for hours at the transfer desk which was anything but ineffective.
Morning in the hotel was no less surprising. We went to a breakfast but found out there are two types of it. Standard breakfast looked nice and it was even served on a terrace. The ITA breakfast was served in a space underground in the basement and it was very poor. That was shocking!

We then called the taxi with the code that ITA gave us the night before which paid it. It was at us just in a few minutes and we were off to the airport.

ITA Hangar Lounge

This is the place where ITA finally did a good job! Well, at least when talking about the bar. It is so well designed, it's fabulous! And the bartenders and the cocktails they do…its something unbelievable!

The offer on the bar is absolutely amazing. You will get there top quality cocktails as well as standard Italian coffee which is top quality!

The food selection is also good, for a couple of hours of stay absolutely fine. A lot of cold options and also one hot pasta as a lunch or dinner.

And the pasta station…

All in all, very good, we loved it! The backbone of the lounge are bathrooms which are not enough for the number of visitors. Also, a shower is available, but only one. Compare this to a Lounge Terminal for Schengen flights at Air France CDG…
Also, keep in mind, that this is Schengen Lounge. For long hauls the lounge is different, the old one of Alitalia but in new colours.

The Flight

Not memorable, it was at least not delayed. If we only knew this meal will accompany us on all our next flights with ITA as they are probably incapable to serve anything else than this on all outbound and inbound flights…Madonna Mia!
